Threads are good.

7.15am 85km's trouble free. Bike started fine twice at the ferry. I say keep going.

Can someone let my wife know there's no chance of getting the jobs done she wanted me to.

Yes they were my thoughts as well Jim..often wondered looking at the fine threads on the gearbox shaft when you tighten the clutch nut up how much they will take..looks like the thread pulled out of the nut..should not happen at 27-30 ft lbs though

400 odd km's, a number of hot starts and no issues what so ever. After 7 hours I have a sore arse though.

There may have been a rattle gun involved last night, but that was yesterday and the bike is going great now, so it's hard to recall.

Were the hot starts cured by using the proper R6 starter clutch or did you manage to program the ignitech to not provide spark for the first couple of revolutions on start?

Regardless, glad you got to go on your ride!

Now on to getting the 900 sorted and you will get some ridin' time back!

I still haven't been able to get the laptop to link up with the ignitech so I haven't changed anything. I was going to change the advance curve at 500RPM (cranking speed) to fire at TDC and not 10 deg BTDC. The system is already set to do 2 engine revolutions before providing spark and this was set up by Rexe before I got the bike.

The bike now has the starter clutch out of my sidecar and this came from Cary. I also used the starter motor out of my sidecar but I fitted new Honda brushes and cleaned the comutator.

Zero advance at cranking speed or even up to 5 Degree ATDC will take all the load off the starter and this should be how everyone should set them up..........Above 500 RPM it should default to what ever initial is required (typically around 10 Degee BTDC) This will always enable good cranking speed hot or cold.
Seems that you are learning quickly.
