toddk is helping me with swapping a swing arm and shocks on my bike but it took longer than expected so i had to leave it on his lift in his garage. him being toddk he loaned me one of his bikes. the gpz. i took it out for a spin and little photo shoot. its a fun ride.

I am thinking about what might be my next project, and the GPZ crossed my mind. I have never ridden one. What is it like?

Also note that the one you have borrowed has a sticker on the speedo. Does it say 'If you crash it - you bought it' Wink

its a nice ride. tight steering, shifting. good brakes. comfortable riding position. good wind break with the fairing. i like it.

ha! the sticker says + 5 mph but i'm not sure if it means to add 5 or your going 5 over.

Agree 100% ! Todd was kind enough to load me this bike for the NE Spring ride. Great rider, light, quick steering , good brakes and very stable Very impressed !

What I love is the fact that you had a "loaner".....further justification that "MBS" has a good friend purpose too....if anyone gets down to SE Florida during the months of frozen tundra "up north" this winter, I have a bike that y'all can ride...and spare helmet too, so no gear required....next year it will also have a fresh 887 motor in it too...😎

At the recent fall ride I let Todd take the FJR1300 for a spin and I rode this bike for a stint ..... it is definitely different. Compact for sure. Nice pics Eric.

I got to use this bike when my broken clutch cable left me stranded in Vermont during a NE spring ride. I was very impressed with how the GPZ handled. Actually thinking of getting one!

I remember my buddy had a 1982 gpz 750 (biking fairing/dual rear shocks) I set it up with coils, Kerker megaphone with comp baffle, and stage 3 jetting for him. That 2v 750 pulled hard down low. It was a fun bike. Loud with that pipe, but fun. It would beat my similarly set up gs750e (with larger cams) thru two gears from a stop, but then the gs would catch it and pull away.

Kind of an awkward riding position as it was very upright and close to the bars.

Another bike I should of kept for myself.......It would be nice in the garage next to my 1100f.

Back in the day - mid-late eighties - I had my 1100F and my mate had the turbo version of the GPz750. Really evenly matched bikes.

Mark, sorry to hear about the stroke. I was wondering why I couldn't lure you out with my baby.

The direct lifts are off of a Kawasaki KZ900, I have a set of 29mm smoothbores, I just haven't had time to stick them on. It should really wake up the GPZ.

I thought those were the VM26s or VM28s, they have more cast in writing on the sides. The VM29s should make a BIG difference. Smile

VM26's, 76, 77 and 78 I believe, Kawasaki went back to 28's in 1979. I should take the time and put on the smoothbores Very Happy

Bike looks great!

I have the big brother GPZ1100 in pieces, in slow resto/mod progress. It's already bored out to the 1170. Can't wait to get back at it.
