For the guys who sell stuff to guys over seas...what kind of codes do you use for the Harmonized Code section on the custom forms?

Just looking for general insight on experience and how strict the customs port is when your stuff goes in. Does it need to be the exact code? or do they open up your package and check.

Any insight would be appreciated.

I am currently browsing here: https://hts.usitc.gov/ for codes that might work.

Chris

It depends on what you are sending... i.e. new vs. old, mufflers, carbs, motors, tires, etc. Use this link as a guide:
https://www.foreign-trade.com/reference/hscode.htm?code=8714

Note: You must send a "Commercial Invoice" with a description of what you are sending. e.g. sending a muffler overseas would have a description of muffler for a 1982 Honda CB900F with HS Code of 8708.92.0000. Hint: Specify whether used or not. The value of a Commercial Invoice cannot be zero even no money has been exchanged. The minimum amount of a CI is $1.00

The majority of motorcycle parts (used or new) would fall under 8714.10.0050
