Wow; that is a thing of beauty Wow I'm glad it wasn't for sale locally because I don't know how I would explain to my wife why I need a 3rd bike.
I think we got the 750's in Canada. Enjoy.

VFR= greatest bike ever. Can't go wrong with it.

Check the usual maintenance stuff, it needs nothing else. Gear driven cams!

I think I recognize that bike from VFRDiscussion.com. The lowers have been repainted.

Good bikes the VFR's

A workmate had a 1987 750 here in the UK who got it to 174,000 miles before he got knocked off it and destroyed it, I have a 1997 VFR 750 FV last of the carb models with 43000 miles and runs like new, only problems seems to be voltage regulators failing and rear shocks getting soft at 30000 miles

Third? When you get to 8 or 9 thats when you really start to struggle for explanations/justifications.

Very cool bikes for sure - I intend to have one in the collection eventually. I found one nearby for a few hundred bucks, but most of the bodywork was junk, there was no title, and it was a general mess.

Now here's one I'd love to grab - an /84 VF100F w/13K on the odo:

Where was that one Tom? Back in the 1990's, I had a friend in Ct with one, but he would never sell it back then.

Hey Mike - it's in RI: http://providence.craigslist.org/mcy/3538529686.html

If you buy it, can I ride it? Smile

I helped a guy with one of these back in the day (not sure of the year his was all white). I added pipes, rejetted the carbs and installed better coils. It was fast and had a sky high redline. When I rode my 1100F I could beat him in straight line acceleration but when we switched bikes I could just stay ahead (he did not abuse the clutch at the start like I did.) Really nice bike. Always wondered what happened to that one.

Alright fellas...Went and rode the vfr today...Definitely not what I was expecting with the body work and paint. Tank dented pretty bad, fairings pretty rough, she "painted" the wheels, overall I would give it a 5 outta 10. Motor seemed to be in good condition, the supertrapps sounded okay, maybe a leak in the pipe somewhere. Pulled good, I love the riding position, just not worth 1600 to me. I would offer her 800, but I don't want to low ball her like that. I think its worth a grand, but I cant spend that. It did make me want one though! Just not that one. oh yea, the chain was VERY loose, and she told me that was how it's supposed to be...???? I will wait and buy something much nicer.

It is tempting but it has the old chain drive cams which had oiling issues. Being a 1 yr bike would probably mean it would be tough to get parts too! Those V's are not easy to work on either. I had a 1983 Sabre 750 and it ran great, rode and handled like a truck though. The gear drive VFR's are the ones to have--I had 2 of those.
