CB1100R

Hi There, Just to introduce myself, my name is Chris, I was introduced to this site by a friend he said that there is much knowledge on here all things Honda, I wanted to verify an engine and frame numbers and so far have had no luck. So if it's ok I would like to ask the question here as somebody might be able to help me.
Are these the correct numbers for a CB1100R?
chassis number SC08 2101360
engine number is SC05 E 2000939

If any body could tell me I would be most greatful

Hi & welcome to all things F.

Yes according to the info I have,
SC08 Chassis = CB1100RC & RD
SC05 Engine = CB1100RB

So thats interesting & someone with vastly more experience than me will be along shortly to sort it out.

your friend is correct, the only place you need to be for advice and information, mainly F based stuff but we do let you R guys join in now and then Wink

A good few R owners club members are on here as are UK F owners club members, put a weekend to one side and have a look around, best let the family know they wont be seeing much of you from now on.

The engine numbers for all 1100R's started with SC05. At least thats what the Honda service books say.

Looks like you have an 81 RB engine in an 82 RD frame.

Thank you to everybody for the helpful replies, I have not bought the bike yet because before I laid out such a wedge I wanted to be certain of what I'm paying for. Does this mean that its value is comprimised because its authenticity is now questionable?

Welcome aboard. Would be nice to have another cbf/r rider in the Kent/S.E area. Have quite a few guys around Kent that own, ride or are rebuilding f's and r's, so if you need anyone local to help you out, just give me a shout.

I also have tonnes of spares, so bare that in mind also.

As for the value of the cb1100r, it all dpends on what the asking price is and what condition its in. Many factors have to be taken into account on valuing such a rare and collectable machine.

Does the resent owner have a history of the bike?

Was it actually raced?

I'm wondering if that might have been cause for an engine swap.

Seen this one. In my humble opinion, i would say it is worth between £5 to £6k. Non original indicators and mirrors for a start. Rear mudguard has been cut down. There is probably more that we can't see.

Way over priced if i'm honest.

Hi Oscar,
The bike looks great!!Things to know is the mirrors are not original,they are the chrome one`s.Very hard to get them.
Also the indicators are not original,they are easy to get.
The brakedisc`s front are not the originals,hard to get them.
It is for sure the RD,chassis SC08-engine SC05. 1983
The price they asking is high,normally think about maybe 5000-8000,= euro.
There are 1050 RB models 1981, 1500RC models 1982,and 1500RD models 1983.

But it is a very nice bike,looks good.Succes with purchase,

I think we did a critique of this one a little while ago, the main things that were spotted were:

- Front and rear discs are non-standard (although wouldn't be a problem for me ..)
- Front and rear master cylinders are non-standard (also as above ..)
- Mirrors are non-standard (should be shorter and chrome, as Wim noted)

On the plus side it looks very tidy, and its still got a toolbox attached ...

I think our biggest issue was its price, which seems very expensive, even for those of us with Rs (obviously we are happy for them to increase in value, but this seemed a bit much, even to us ... Smile

). But that probably explains why its still for sale, any R that's at a reasonable price (not necessarily cheap) just goes ...

Thanks to everybody for all the responses, I had negotiated a price for the bike though it was still high, I was prepared to go ahead but for the cost it would'v had to be as the ad suggested. It is not what I thought it would be, I am unhappy though very greatful to have been helped here so freely.
The guy selling it seems like a nice enough and knowledgable bike collector, all my contact wa sthrough email.
To be fair I'm trying to thin my bikes out not add to them but this one seemed a really nice one and for such a slice of motorcycling history I would have made an exception and especially as this one is so nicely presented it looked like a stunner to me.
I have had no answer and now expect none to me asking about its previous history.

I see the CB1100R has been relisted with a £8500 starting bid which is more like the right price,lets see how many bids it gets now

it's amazing how the pricing of these rare machines differ across the globe. There is an RC going in Jo'burg in pretty good condition, for only $1800 (BIN). Shit and I don't have that kinda cash lying around!!! Sad

Another thing that is not correct is the speedometer. If you look close, the numbers go far beyond the normal point where it stops at either 150 mph for a "miles" or 240 km/h for a "kilometer" bike. Thus I would be careful concerning his statement about "17,500 miles"

Hello Oscar,this seller in Italy [vendilo roma] has many parts on ebay,but the prices he is asking for the parts are very high.
Seems to me that he is not selling much because they are for some there.

vendilloroma's 1000R parts are amazingly priced as well - 300-400GBP for a used lower fairing. I bought a NOS blue one (85 model) and a NOS red one (84 model) for less than that.
