Looking at this to buy & I have never seen this red line before!?
Looks to be put on by pen? Seller has no clue what it is.
Japanese speed limit I think - seen 750F speedos change colour from white to red at 80kmh.

Just wondering if anybody seen this before? Is it factory? Can I get that red line off?

Nope - not seen one like this before - The French warning label and lack of the warning light (as in the lower picture) would make me think something aftermarket like a sticker (in this country we'd put ghetto stickers to show the MPH readings to get through our MOT test)

An import to Japan with aftermarket sticker would be my guess and I'd buy it.

Thanx Pete - Ghetto Stickers Very Happy lol

I hope its a sticker or pen & not scratched into the glass.
Very hard getting answers from Japan & even then I have made some very expensive mistakes buying stuff from there...
Yeah that French RPM Warning sticker isn't on straight - so I'm thinking its an 1100F speedo made to look like an R
to up the price with an after market sticker.

That warning light is only on the 750's over there not 900 / 1100 or R's

The red line on the glass has been added later and can probably be removed easily. That's almost certainly a CB1100R speedo and that model was never released in Japan in the first instance. The calibration to 250kph is the give away unless it's a repro gauge face. The 900 speedo was calibrated to 240kph. Redundant really because neither the 900 nor the 1100R would pull 240 let alone 250 kph except down a mineshaft.

The "MA3" instrument in mph calibration (U.K. for example) was used later by Honda as a replacement for the "150 mph " "422" CBX speedo.
In return, the early CBX instruments all fit the CB1100R. A km/h calibrated speedo for a CBX is not really rare, as it remained basically the same for all years. Only in the U.S., Honda introduced an "80 mph" speedo for the CBX from 1980 models onward.
I have several NOS 240 ("250 km/h") speedos, 422 part-numbers (CBX).
The ones that are worth more money are the km/h speedos with the small white mp/h scale inside. Sort of reversed U.S. instruments, which have large red mp/h and small white km/h scales

Would be interested to see a photo of a 422 speedo calibrated to 250. Wasn't aware of such an animal.
