Thanks Ben.
It's making me feel homesick whilst I'm away from home in Toulouse. Where in France are you?

Had to look that up. Not close is it? It's fine but very cold, currently zero degrees. Very cold compared to the Summer I just flew away from!

Thanks for the pics, Don and Ben. So many great looking hot rods.
I will certainly be looking for updates over the weekend. |

A very excellent weekend. In the photos that Ben posted, the blue CB900 number 43 is me!The bike was started for the first time at P.I. on thursday. After a couple of minor teething problems the bike ran perfectly all weekend.I was still finding lines right up to the end of the last race.(first time riding the bike & the circuit).Forgotten Era was divided into two groups, the fastest 40 went into the Premier class & the rest of us went into the consolation class,I was in the latter group. I qualified 12th out of 18 and finished the weekend with 9th,13th,13th,6th placings and a best lap time of 2.02.I don't know where the lap record ended up at but the best time I saw for the class was Steve Martin (world Endurance Champion) on a Suzuki Katana was 1.39,10 seconds slower than Rossi on a 30 year old dinosaur! |

The motor is 985cc,I was going to use the 1187 from my sidecar but I could see potential head gasket problems if I stuck any more compression in it.I have only cleaned & matched the ports,Kibblewhite springs,Tighe Cams ,CRS33mm carbs and around 13.5:1 compression.I'll put on the dyno when I get it back to W.A.
The wheels are 17x3.5 front & 17x4.5 rear wearing Pirelli slicks,Gazi rear shocks. The forks were set up by a guru in Perth with heavier springs and racetech gold valves. At the moment the ignition is standard cb900.Before the next race I'll be installing a set of Carrillo's and new larger valves. |

Well that's a bugger Damage. I'm in France now. If we caught up I'd chew your ear off about your bike I'm going home next week I hope. Great effort at the Island. I'd love to go watch this meet let alone race in it. Looking forward to the Barry Sheene festival of speed at the Creek in April. I'm guessing you won't be there.
For those that don't know, the trip from Bunbury, Western Australia to Phillip Island, Victoria is about 4000 kilometres one way, so hats off to you mate. Great effort. |
