I have a GL1100 that I'm turning into a naked bike. I'd like to cut the front and rear fenders down to make them a little more sporty looking. I'm using the F fenders as a guide. Any suggestions on what tool to use to do the cutting? |

What has worked well for me is establishing the cut line on the underside of the fender and then scoring the line repeatedly with a utility knife, changing blade as necessary to keep a sharp edge, until it is almost through. Then you can flex it back and forth and it parts pretty easily requiring just a light file and sanding for a clean edge. I did this on my dark red Bandit and being careful with the sanding I didn't even need to paint the edge.
(it was black ABS) If you'll be repainting you could probably do this from the top side. I hope this is helpful.

Me too, works great. Make some cuts in the scrap part your cutting off to get a feel for how it cuts. Not to fast or to slow and you'll get a nice clean cut. You'll get the feel real quick. |
