My 1100F is starting to show signs of battery failure. I checked my records and it turns out I installed this Deka Powersports ETX15L in April '09. I never charged it. Just used it. Year round because I live in Sydney, but not too often as there are 3 other motorsickles in the stable. I called Batteryworld in Caringbah to source another, and they informed me that it would be 40 bucks cheaper than when I bought it in '09.
Definitely worth the money compared to the lead acid jobs IMO. I tell people about these batteries all the time when the subject comes up. |

robbo, just to clarify the ETX15L is still a lead-acid battery, it is just not a conventional flooded lead-acid battery. |

that's about how old my 2 deka AGM's are as well. I do hit 'em with the charger over the winter tho. |

My 7.25 year old genuine Yuasa (Honda) battery in my Blackbird is on the way out. Still starts the bike but drops float voltage when left for a couple of weeks.
Worst part is Honda won't replace it under warranty. |

Ya. I get that. Could've worded my post more precisely.
Cheers. |

I just changed mine out after 7 years. It seems to be their lifespan. It lost its ability to cold crank my engine in the morning unless it was on a tender overnight. Warm starts were ok though. I've replaced it with a same spec Motobatt MBTX14AU. Many of my friends run Motobatt so I'll see how it goes. |

Also got 7 yrs on my motobat and change it between both bikes. when not in use , just keep a eye on state of charge .
Never dropped below 12.6 so no need to charge it as it will do more harm than good . I put a anderson plug on both bikes to ease change and save the terminals |

I've got 8 years out of several AGM's over the years and that's with never using a charger even though they sit for several months over the winter.
On a side note, I just changed the original factory battery (Panisonic I think) in my wife's Toyota Matrix after 12 years! It was still working but when the ground cable corroded so bad it broke off the battery, I thought I might as well change the battery too. |

Little help on this one. Went for a ride yesterday about 150 miles;
Stopped once had lunch and a beer. Started fine. Stopped for gas
when I got close to home and battery would hardly turn engine over checked battery and it now shows 13.3 voltage and the charging system works fine. Start the bike and headlight gets brighter when engine revs.. Good battery AGM and charging sytem.. The engine has a weisco big bore kit which I believe also raises compression..
Any help?? |

And changing the battery cable to a bigger gauge
like Fitter did. |

I get 7-8 years use out an AGM battery. Normal lead acid battery 2-3 years. Its a no brainer plus an AGM has more "omph". |
