Pretty much have the reverse oiling sorted out. There are still a few loose ends I need to finish up. One is the grinding of the fitting inside the oil passage, another is tapping and plugging the oil port on top under the output shaft and I stilll have to modify the nut inside the cap so that is doesnt hit the spinning shaft. The nut fits fine inside the roller bearing but even though the fitting does not protrude past the nut it's still a little too long I think. I'll be looking at this next. I also have to fit the shift shaft to make sure everything clears nicely.

Haven't posted much to this long term thread in a while. Partly bc since PB made it more difficult to just throw pictures up it's a little more of a pain. However, I am still making slow but steady progress and will have something cool to post in a week or so. Or many things if I can get some pictures together.
Like most projects I've bought parts and changed my mind and sold stuff but I think I'm about to the point where I don't have much room to change much from my current trajectory. |

Ok, so here are a few things I've been workingon recently. There are several other things that I'll get around to posting but I'll start here.
Hard anodized banded clutch basket with new rubbers as well as a new stainless steel backing plate. The original backing plate was warped and pretty cruddy. Also has new needle bearings that have been Tungsten Disulfide coated. You can't get needle bearings in ceramic so this is the next best thing.
I'm going to be running a crank trigger as well as a cam sensor so I bought one of Brent's trigger wheels. He mounts his on the charging side of the engine but since I' going to be keeping my charging system I made a mount to replace the ignition parts. I don't foresee any issues with mounting this way but if there is I have a few options to change things. This is a mockup crank and not the lightened one I'll be running.
There is also the Yamaha style starter clutch upgrade in there too.
This will probably be the biggest modification of the engine! I had designed this basic intake tract several years ago before Brent had reveled his version on the over the top Superhead. I was lucky enough to be able to see the first version of his Superhead when he was in New England and get to talk to him a bit about it. There was one major detail that he enlightened me about which is absolutely necessary to make this setup work. Thanks to Brent and Ivan for making such a great modification and being willing to help others out on their quest for more power!
You may notice the "exit" on the intake is quite small. This is because I don't know what shape the intake port will be and this is a sort of "porters head".

WELL,
the basic idea itself is really primary school, any body here can understand that straight ducts can be better that twisted ones, so I can easily believe you Nat ....
And yes, another attempt to address the same issue could be milling the OEM spigots away, and weld straigt aluminum pipes in place ...
BUT ...
When we (Brent and I) started looking at the first (of many) sectioned head , everything appreared very complicated, and we nearly decided to quit ... until I had a brilliant simple idea , that made it all happen. I started 3D modelling end of 2012 and the first complete Superhead was delivered in November, 2013.
AND
The straight billet manifolds is nothing compared to what has been done on the head itself, the least being the fully CNC contour, from the valve seats, through the runners and the manifolds, with seamlessly variable cross section, the same for all four cylinders ... consistently.
TO THE POINT THAT
We are now at the third genenation and the flow is (not surprisingly) so high , that the torque diagram on the dyno is nearly incredible... but this is something that I won't detail , Brent could do it..... if ever.
He's the boss since he inspired and paid for all the brilliant ideas, the manufacturing and all the development of the Super Head.
Thank you. |

You guys paved the Ivan there is no doubt to that! Brent has told me a little about the current head and the numbers/performance is just staggering! My "design" comment was that there was a period of time that Brent's head was done but he had not reveled exactly HOW it was done. So I set to the task of trying to make one myself and thought that it would make sense to make one piece with two spigots and bolt them on with a oring to seal. Brent confirmed this was the right path but there was more work to be done for it to become a reality. I don't want people to think that I bought this manifold from you guys since yours has several more features that mine doesn't have and Im pretty sure that you don't want to sell the spigots on their own. I'm always standing on the shoulders of those that have gone before! |

I believe you.... however selling the spigots alone would be useless as you'll discover as you proceed...
But it's worth trying , have fun |
