Things have been crazy at work, and on top of that, my younger brother passed away recently at age 51 from a heart attack. This has distracted me from assisting one of our fellow Australian forum members in Queensland with some parts I promised to get to him. I have a new 1100 head and barrels for my 900 resto-mod project and told him I would send him the old 900 head, barrels and pistons. Problem is, it is quite heavy at about 28 kg and none of the shippers I have contacted will ship engine parts from a home address as they are worried about oil leaking from the parts. Also, box is too heavy for regular postage. Does anyone know of a shipper in Australia that handles this sort of thing? I am in Bowral, in the NSW Southern Highlands and trying to get the parts to a business address in Brisbane, Queensland.

Any help appreciated.

Regards,

Chris

Not at all familiar w/how things go in OZ, but here in the States, some bus lines also transport bulky pkgs. I don't know if the weight would be an issue for them - maybe split them up into more than 1 box? Of course your friend would have to p/u at local bus depot. Good Luck - Ed

It is really not that heavy? I shipped that same stuff all over the US individually. If they ask what is is just say it is metal

Hi Chris,

Where in QLD do they need to go? I have some ideas on this, I'll give you a call.

IIRC we are allowed 30kg checked luggage when we travel. Just sayin'...

Cheers...Tony.

Thanks Tony. Yes, I have contemplated flying up with it checked! Oh, BTW, I remembered that I still have a bag of yours sitting under my desk at AIPA that I need to return to you! Sorry about that, will drop it to you when next in the office.

Regards,

Chris

Very hard to ship anything like that around Aus, most carriers won't touch it

Very hard to ship anything like that around Aus, most carriers won't touch it, you can't even ship a second hand motor mower because it has had fuel in it. I have shipped bikes all over Aus and have never once been asked if it has fuel in the tank, go figure

If its less than 70 lbs, then FedEx will take it. You didn't mention that cost was an issue but then....

I have no shipping advice for you, Chris, but I wanted to pass on my condolences regarding your brother's recent passing. I'm very sorry to hear the news. My best to you and your family.

Tom

Thanks everyone,

Looks like the pack and go self service may be a reasonable option thanks Don.

So sorry to hear about your brother.
I've used Pack and Send to get multiple packages up to Mark before - heaviest being a crank for his build. If it's dry, I can't see any issue, other than lifting it Wink

cheers
