1980 CB750 project is dead in the water. ShiT just got real.

Just pulled the spark plugs on my 750F. Number 2 spark plug hole is stripped.

I do not know what I will do next, but I can not go forward with this problem right now.

I could put all the good parts on the '79, but that may be to far gone after the Pool Chlorine incident.

I am just very lost at this moment.

OK I have had time to calm down. I just checked the engine on the '79.

It spins over by hand and seems to have compression. I am going to roll her out of the garage tomorrow.

First time she has seen the light of day in 5 or 6 years and do a compression test.

If she checks out I am going to swap the motors. Then perhaps the 82 750 motor will become a winter project.

Sorry for the defeatism before, but every thing was going so well, this hit me hard.

But like I told WOWDad the other day, it just a machine. It did not do this on purpose!

You can TimeSert a spark plug hole www.timesert.com . They aren't cheap though. You can find kits on amazon, ebay, or a google search. There are a couple of web sites that have the good prices, stock, and fast shipping.

Decent 750 heads aren't hard to find, maybe even as cheap as fixing the hole, if you don't get in a hurry.

Take the head to your local machine shop. They should already have all the tooling and experience necessary to install a timesert for you.

I have a couple good 750 heads. 50 bux plus shipping. I'll clean it up, check the seats for leakage (and lap if needed) and put a set of gene's valve seals in for 100 plus shipping. I'll throw in a set of gene's valve cap bolts also.

WOW that is a great deal, the only thing that makes me hesitate, is I have never pulled the head off one of these things!

It is not hard. Get a Clymer manual. It will show you step by step. Does not take that long if the engine is out of the bike

I have been reading through the Clymer Manual for the last hour or so. Since the engine needs to come out of the frame anyway, I will just swap out the '79 engine

into the 80 frame as a stop gap measure. then I will go ahead and give the other one a head job!!!

Then my 750F will be a '79, '80, '82 CB750F, then all I need to do is find a noticeable '81 part, and I will have a bike from all years of production.

I have an '81 900F NOS tank, But that might be wrong!
