Shocked that is insane. How the hell he managed to walk away from that beggars belief.

I have had that wobble on a Jeep before, caused by front end issue, what causes it in a motorcycle... Stem Bearing???

I like that he says he's glad he wore his gear while looking at his bloody knee and sneakers. Not that boots and real pants would stop a semi truck tire. I can't recall the last time I left it in 1st all the way 80mph either. Sheesh, what a lucky mother fucker! Now he'll probably go home and die in his sleep.

That and a combination of a myriad of other factors.

Tyre pressure, condition and settings of your suspension, load distribution if carrying gear etc.

... frame damage, tire damage, incorrect tire sizes or tire wear issues, swing arm axle and bearings, wheel axles and bearings, bike modifications ...

Also the video didn't show the lead up to the head shake. Its possible he was coming down from a wheelie or something and that just may be enough in combination with with another factor to cause it.

What is the best, immediate action to respond to such a wobble? Accelerate? Brake? Loose grip on bars and steady throttle? Death grip on bars?

Although it goes against natural instinct, I would accelerate (lighten front end)(while sphincter initiates suction hold on seat).

Steve

What's being taught at driving school where I live is to let go of the throttle and move your bodyweight a bit forward and squeeze the tank with your knees. Never had it happen personally though.

A friend/co-worker had that happen while cycling on his road bike one afternoon. He was going down a fairly steep hill at over 50mph. Front wheel starting wobbling uncontrollably and he finally lost it and went down. Except for some bad scrapes and cuts, he was ok. No broken bones or sprains. They suggest the same course of action when it starts - squeeze the center bar with the knees and let it slow down.

After what happened to my friend, I no longer feel the need to hit top speed while pedaling downhill.
