Hiya,
Will there be a 'proof of the pudding' dyno run for these exhausts?

Page 7 are dyno results of different bikes and exhausts. Page 6 at the bottom has the results of Z3RO's pipe.

Cheers!

Loosely mocked up on my 1100 barn find. Hand tightened. The muffler is going back to the polisher to make it perfect, but I won't be able to drop it off until monday of next week.

Any estimate on when you'll start taking orders?

When I get them back from the polisher, weld the spring clips for the headers, sound clip, last fit test, box it up, final pricing. Then i'll be confident to take orders.

I've been searching for a good looking, good fitting pipe for a while. I am totally interested in this project. The way you have the baffle it should sound fantastic. GREAT WORK!

I tried fitting the OMT pipe I scored for $75 on my 750 and it just didn't look right. I wasn't impressed with the welding at the collector on the inside either. 2 of the pipes were somewhat restricted. I had to grind off some of the excess welds on the inside, and its fine now.

I like the pipe, think it looks great. Will there be an option for a different mid-pipe, upswept version?

@nunzio, I would be super stoked to have my exhaust on one of your amazing bikes. Your craftsmanship is always top notch imo.

@hogwild113, At this moment, there won't be an upswept version. I probably won't be doing a 2nd run of the Yoshimura replica so this will be it.

Small update, exhaust is still at the polisher shop. I call every day in the morning to check in. He does great work, so I'm willing to be patient with him. He's lagging (which seems to be a common theme among shops)

Much appreciated, with the 750 having a shorter cylinder, how much do you think it will hang down? I don't want to drag or touchdown in a corner. The Vance will do that if I push the bike a little more than I should.

When I get everything back, I'll measure clearance for you from the can to the ground. Then subtract whatever the amount the 750s are shorter by...can't remember off the top of my head.

I don’t think the can is where the problem is. It’s the collector because the exhaust ports are what it’s lower, not any of the other exhaust mounting points.

A better place to measure might be the distance from the bottom of the frame to the bottom of the collector.

Come on man, the suspense is killing me.

Can you throw a dart at the wall and come up with a price within $50?

I really don't want too, I want the price to be 100% exact so there are no misconceptions. I feel like even if I were short $50, and had to add it...that may rub people the wrong way.

Believe it or not, this will be going out for near cost, I have a 9-5 job, so I'm not in this for the money. I can at least say that it will be much lower than the Jay Gui exhaust as far as pricing. It's more important to me that people have this exhaust on their bike so just getting my money back would make me happy.

Also, I did a lot of design work for this company so we need to tally up how much they are going to take off on labor for the labor I did for them. So it's tricky in that sense.

Chris

I see where you're coming from, but I for one am hanging off buying a new exhaust for my bike, hoping I'll be able to afford to buy one of yours.
I could do with a ball park figure to see if it's ever going to be in my price range.
If you don't want to say a figure, how about within a $200 range, say $500 to $700 for example?
That way, if you're thinking around say $600, but it could be 50 or so more, or less, you'll have it covered. And I'll know if it's likely to be affordable for me, or not.
I'd expect that if you can get a good number of confirmed orders, with a deposit paid up front. A production run of many would work out cheaper than individual one off orders.

I get where you are coming from. Let me sit down with the shop and go over how much he is going to take off the price for the work I've done and I'll come back with a number. I know everyone has been waiting for this.

I went to pick up the exhaust 3 times, once a week for the last 3 weeks, and each time I told him it wasn't good enough. The finish wasn't the way I wanted it, so I'll be stopping by again today to see if he got it right. I could of just taken it and went with it, but I don't settle period.

I have yet to sit down with the shop to calculate final price, our schedules haven't lined up as he was out of town and my work scheduled is 9-5, 6-12 now mon thru friday, and ever other sat/sun. I got a 2nd job as a 3D CAD designer at a local hobby shop, I get to work on a Carbide Create Shapeoko XXL CNC (w/ Makita Router) working with materials between aluminum, wood, carbonfiber, and plastics. I love it, and wish I had discovered my love for CAD and CAM 10 years ago. But this is the reason why it's so hard for me to coordinate with the shop. I usually have to request half days to get over there to talk to them during business hours which I have been the last 3 weeks. The guys there are old school...don't know how to take pics or email etc.

What exactly do you mean by not good enough..is it the polishing or welding? Just curious what they aren't getting right? And thanks for keeping the bar set high.

the finish isn't consistent throughout the exhaust, I told them don't bother calling me until it's even across the board and looks a certain way. I shouldn't be able to see a break or change in the brushed SS at all. I'm not certain on the terminology, but I think this is a #4 brushed satin? I could be wrong, lemme find out. Either way, I run my eyes across everything and if something doesn't look right, then I tell them, and they fix it.

Leaving now to pick it up.

Got them back, they look perfect! I measured and ordered the boxes, double wall corrugated heavy duty boxes for shipment.
