Hey guys. I just got home from picking up this bike. It was a long day running into NYC to get it. The bike has been owned by the same guy since 1985 and only has 15k miles on it.

What can you tell me about these bikes? Anything I need to know and look out for? Thanks guys

Nice find! Welcome to the addiction. Took the liberty of adjusting the youtube link.

Read around and learn. Main things are valve clearance and cam chain adjustment.

hey wildman, nice score! looks like we're neighbors. theres actually a few of us in this direct area. we'll have to try and hook up and do some riding. and I'm sure you've seen the note east ride posts so you gotta jump on board with those.
looking forward to meeting you and checking out your 1100!

Eric.

Hey Eric, Nice to meet you too. I'm sure you have seem me riding around as I'm in that area a lot. I currently am riding a 1978 KZ650 (Blue) and a 73 RD350. I did have a 81 KZ550 but I just sold it and replaced it with this. By best friend Lonnie is also into vintage bikes and mostly Kawasaki. He has build 3 kawis over the last 2 years and we ride together mostly.

Check out our Facebook Group. "Vintage Bikers of Lake George, NY Region". Always looking for like minded people to ride with. It's touch as we are massively outnumbered by Harley's and sport bikes.

Here are my other bikes.

My 550 I just sold. Converted it to a GPZ over the winter.

Nice bikes. I especially covet your RD. With pipes and cut pistons, these things fly.

The 1100-f is the ultimate development of the original SOHC 750. It grew in size. It found two cams. It finally got a frame that didn't flex and brakes that can actually stop you quickly. I have a 1970 CB-750 that I have owned since 1971. The difference is incredible, but the linage is still apparent.

Enjoy riding your new bike often and hard. I think you will enjoy it. BTW, this forum is unbelievably useful.

Thanks.

I have had that RD since 2015 and have not put more than 100 miles on it yet. It was a disaster when I got it and have redone the entire bike. I get it running after 22 years, only to find out that cylinder 2 has bad piston slap. It didn't show itself until I had run the engine a few heat cycles and got it loose again. The bike is currently at a builder getting the entire engine rebuilt and ported. Should be around 55hp when done. Not bad for a 300lb bike. It will probably be faster than the KZ650.

Welcome to the forum, Wildman. Nice collection of bikes and impressive job restoring your RD.

As far as your 1100F goes - it looks like you scored a very nice one. The bodywork appears to be in excellent shape and 15K miles on the clock isn't bad at all. You didn't say if it was running yet, but assuming that it is, you should adjust the valves and chains before you do a lot of riding. Everything else is pretty easy and typical of these older bikes, such as addressing old brake fluid, chain/sprockets, fork seals, etc. There's plenty of info here and we're all happy to help in any way we can.

The fall NE ride that Eric mentioned will be in Saratoga Springs. A bunch of us will be riding our F's together for a few days and would love to have you join us. The riding is outstanding and the evening "activities" are also very enjoyable. We have a great group of guys.

Tom

Thanks for the welcome.

The 1100F is running. There is a video of it above.

I have gone through and cleaned, greased and changed the fluid in the front brakes. Much better now as they were really stiff. Everything else for the most part is in good shape. Probably just address things as they come up.

It's nice to see that we have some local guys. I'll try to make the fall ride depending on the date. Saratoga is only like 10 minutes from me.
