All, some of you know that longtime member cb1100fer (John) has been sick for quite sometime. For those that do not know John, he had been a very involved part of this forum up until he got sick. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about these F's. John has been battling cancer for 4 years now, and just last year he lost his own wife to cancer since he himself was diagnosed. He is currently in the ICU on a ventilator, in a coma, and has had several transfusions.
Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers, to support his battle.
I will keep you all up-to-date on his condition. |

I never know what to say in situations like this as I'm not a very religious person. However, I never like to see someone suffer and hope he can make a full recovery and enjoy life for quite some time to come. |

Darren, Thanks for the info on John. I feel kind of shitty for not visiting him in the last couple of years. I knew he was in rough shape, and definitely started getting worse after the death of his wife.
I met John when I went down to Windsor on the "Rat Ride" in 2009. He has sold me parts for my bike at extremely reasonable prices.
I'll be thinking of him and keeping him in my thoughts, but I know that he won't recover from his illness.

Darren,
Thank you for the update. It is always sad to hear about difficulties from someone we know, have been friends with and especially one of our brothers from this forum. Please do keep us updated on John's status and any thing we might do to help.
John and his family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I remember that ride, or one just after it, Chris. The weather was crap and we ended up going back to John's place and watched a movie in his home theater. So sorry to hear about his condition. |

Major bummer - it always stinks hearing about these sad situations. I'll have some good thoughts for John and hope that he's comfortable. |

Bit of an update, and it's certainly bitter sweet. John's son had provided a bit of an update that I will share here:
As many of you know my Dad went in for surgery last Saturday in attempt to save his leg from the cancer progression, after spending over a month being hospitalized for sepsis. During the operation he lost 3L of blood in the OR due to a massive vascular tumor that had grown, and the surgeon had to abort the operation. He was sent to ICU immediately following the surgery and placed in a medically induced coma, and on full life support with a ventilator. It was an incredibly difficult week to get through, and just as his vitals were barely acceptable for operation, he endured another emergency surgery Tuesday to amputate his left leg. This attempt to save his life from the infection and tumor seemed like it was a futile attempt until yesterday. I am happy to say that after 7 days in a coma, he woke up and was able to speak to me on Fathers Day. The doctors prognosis was very bleak and I never thought I would be able to have another conversation with him again. I hope everyone has had an amazing Father's Day and have shown appreciation to the wonderful Father's in their lives. I am extremely grateful for all of the love, prayers, good vibes and support our family has received.
John is one strong ass mofo. |

Thanks Darren
This is the first I've been on the site in a week or two and was very sad to read about Big John and his battle. My wife and I first meet John many many years ago on a F ride down south in Tennessee. John is a gentle giant and a very proficient rider with a passion for F's. I rode again with John the following year when we first discovered the Cherohala Skyway. John was the first rider out with me in tow and man what a ride we had, when we finally stopped at the last lookout you could smell the rubber. I am glad to hear he is awake and that he had a chance to speak with his son on Fathers Day. I'm not much of a prayer but my wife never stops and I.m sure she will include him in her prayers. |

John chased me all around those roads on the 2006 Honda Hoot - this is me holding him up

Pontiac nudged my memory.
Here's John (in plaid) with the Honda Hoot gang. Were in the parking lot of the Capri hotel (as usual) and various players have decided to change parts/check valves. Blizzard002 is behind John changing his exhaust and in front of Rat and John is a member who decided to adjust his shims and in the process has dropped one into the engine.
John seems to be thinking "Why am I here?"
John, words are beyond me, you are in a class all by yourself ... Respect!
