I had a full knee replacement and have been laying around getting fat and now none of my gear fits, I need some new dragging jeans. I bought a new pair of Alpinestars Hellcat Tech denim pants and I really like their design but they are way too small and larger sizes aren't available.

So what are you guys wearing, any suggestions around $175 and in a 42, I'm 6' 2" 245 lb

http://www.dragginjeans.com

I have a pair of jeans and a kevlar shirt with pockets for the armor that I wear. I can then layer over it with anything (or nothing) depending on the ambient temperature.

Check em out, I like them because they look like regular clothes. Their shirts have pockets for CE pads and are kevlar lined.

In my experience, its not the abrasions that are life threatening rather the blunt force trauma.

I recently picked an gentleman up in his 50s up who was riding what looked like a sport bike. He didn't see the pickup stopped in front of him because of the morning solar glare. At the last minute, which was too late, he grabbed the brakes and hit the truck. He flipped upside down over the handle bars and his legs both hit the top of the tail gate. Bilateral tib/fib fractures, one open fracture proximal to the patella.

I'm not abdicating shorts and flip flops, just stating an observation from the field.

I found a couple used pairs of dragging jeans, one is a 42 and the other a 44, depending on how true to fit they are, do they run small, large or true to fit?

Kevlar leggings - best thing since sliced bread Smile Fit under any pants and give you the same abrasion protection as kevlar jeans, and then you can decide if you want to go more casual with whatever pants you want or put some knee/hip armor in the pockets (in which case the skinny jeans are out Smile )

I have these, but I'm sure there's plenty other brands: https://www.motorious.dk/products/bowtex-leggings-yellow-unisex

I consider the DragginJeans as a supplement to my riding gear, I have an assortment of jackets, pants and boots to get me through the riding season here in Ohio. We only have 6 or so months or decent riding weather, late Spring-early Summer and the Fall, the dog days of Summer are the worst, early or late evening rides are all that's enjoyable.

My problem is I got fat after a shoulder surgery and then a knee replacement back to back, so I'm in denial and hoping I can get back into my old gear by the end of Summer. I have my own armor and I'll have to wait to get the pants and see if I can use it.

.

maybe not life threatening but the pleasure of a sadistic middle aged spinster nurse picking denim threads out of your own personal mince meat, or trying to go for a crap when yir 75% bandaged and any movement is backed up by a sense of petrol burning is not one to wish for

If you do wear none specific bike gear - atleast wear a thick sturdy leather belt, a decent pair of boots and gloves
when yir sliding, the belt can offer a surprising amount of protection, the boots will save your feet when you decide to try and stop ( Laughing and go tumbling head over heels breaking bones because your still doing 20 mph and yir wee legs can't keep up) and the gloves will help because like it or not, you are going to try and put your hands on the ground

Don't know if it gets very hot or humid in your neighbourhood but are these something you actually find yourself wearing when you go out riding? ie. you find them comfortable, use them and would buy them again? I'm looking for something to wear while riding local and do not want to wear my heavy leather pants on in the heat.

Most of the year cold is a bigger problem than heat around here, but I wear them in the summer as well. Sure, in the middle of the summer and slow city traffic they would get hot, but as soon as you get a bit of speed wind I don't even think about them. The kevlar is not as warm as the long underwear you'd wear in winter.

I Wear them pretty much all the time when I ride, so can vouch for them. Wear them under regular pants when riding to work and then just take them off when I get there, saves packing a change of clothes.

Definitely taking notes here. Most armour ive ever worn was haevy denim jeans and underarmour leggings for my very first ride home on the Magna, which was 38F outside and 60 miles. Brrrr. Now I just wear my regular ol blue jeans, but found that my Levis 541 athletic fit pairs are the best.
