Good article. Here in Paridse we ride always in dry country(this year excepted) and I used to spend a lot of time in the desert as the road to the real south west is all desert. I like to follow atgatt standards, sometimes more than others. I prefer leather mostly also have some cordura and ballistic type stuff that is easier packing a second set for long rides. Plastic melts though.

The article talks a lot about riding in the heat. I use moisture wicking under shirt and sometime pants, carry at least two bottles of water from stop to stop. One bottle in case I run low in the old bod and the second bottle, that has had a chance to warm up between stops, to dump down the front and rear of my jacket and pants. The combination of perforations/flaps, under garments and evaporative cooling works well. If I get stuck I always have more water in my bags. The one to keep body and mind sound and the other to keep both cool. Trail mix or bars also packed.

The actual MC spills that were shown in that piece looked odd...The lighting and camera angles looked like they were movie crashes, but the riders did some tumbling that seemed extreme to be staged....Just sayin...

I thought some of the points regarding placement of vents near shear zones (like the arms were shown) was an interesting thing to consider when selecting gear....

The stuff regarding testing riders physiological responses under heat stress was interesting as well..I guess that stuff could be a real factor riding down south and out west on long rides where you are pounding daily mileage.
