I wish to attend some year. My customer who I built the CB1100RD for (and also a GS1100ES restomod), Simon Richards, is competing on the NZ team on a Katana along side Vince Sharpe, who is riding an XR69. It's too bad Brent didn't have the bike ready for Vince to ride, but can understand with all the developments he has going on refining the gear drive system and newer super head.
Is it being streamed anywhere? |

G'day
I'll be heading down. I should get there Thursday sometime. A mate is racing so we want to set up Thursday arvo.
If anyone is thinking of coming, next year would be a good one to aim for. You have one year from now to save up.
Jim and Brent should both be bringing a bike.

Hey scotty, show me a pic of what to look for and I'll try and catch-up with you guys. I'm going down Friday for 3 days, and need to get a list together for a pit-walk.
cheers

Gday Ian
I can't do photo's at the moment. I got a new phone and can't work out how to resize photo's or even get the forum on my phone.
But it does have a number 0413 045 444. I'll have my phone with me over the weekend or we are in a shed down past the start line probably with other ducati dudes, my mates bike is red and silver NCR looking thing.
I'll hopefully see you down there mate.

G'day all,
Sadly I won't be going this year, simply can't afford it and I'm still suffering from last years crash, physically & financially.
nlovie,if you call the mobile phone number under TBR, which I believe is Trevor Birrell Racing, he may be able to help you, from where you are it would be 61 417 871 925.

I'm shooting for PI and '18.
I sold my last race bike and am building a new one from the frame up.
The frame will have the steering neck tucked and I'm using one of Brents steering necks. The rear of the frame is getting the AHM style sub-frame.
Building my second go around of 82 AHM swingarm for it.
Dymags for the slicks and F3 front and CBR900RR wheels for the wets.
F3 forks fully re-valved and Race Tech springs.
Titanium axles, Ti swingarm pivot bolt, Ti motor mount bolts (the long ones) all done by Headless.
The engine is an 1187cc with custom pistons, Carrillo rods, Hyde head, Web 110 cams, V&H primary gear drive, V&H cam chain guides and chains, RSC style Dry Sump (if I get it done in time?), CB1000C transmission with CB900 shift forks, lightened crank to Brents specs done by me and all the mods that I know of.
Brakes are AP racing calipers with 320mm front discs.
Exhaust is a JayGui racing Titanium system with one of my AHM style aluminum mufflers with Ti core. The muffler weighs 695grams.
And best of all my rider is from Melbourne and has raced for Smith's Triumph in the BSB. He should bring the bike around with good times?
I hope to see as many F'ers as possible there and can't wait to meet up with Scotty again. He's a cool dude and I like to drink his beer. Ha
Cya next year, Jim |

Make sure you do lots and lots of testing before you set off Jim. Phillip Island is a punisher. The track has one of the longest WOT times per lap of most world circuits as evident from this shot.

Yes I agree Don.
The plan is to have my rider Mark come over here in August or September and either race the bike or just do a track day or two. If I don't get the bike finished in time for him to come and test?? Then I will postpone the race outing until '19. I really can not afford this new bike and it may be a once in a lifetime shot for me. I do not want to go that far away and not have everything up to par.
I want to have Mark race the bike in the P5 class and the International Challenge. Not sure how he will do in the I.C class? Pretty hard to beat bikes with fairings on those long straights.
Peace, Jim |

Jim pull your finger out mate. This beer isn't going to drink itself.
I'm off to work for a few hours and then sneek off between morning tea and lunch. A mate is covering for me while I'm on my way to Phillip Island. |

You could always practice on the 'mini-me' go-kart track opposite Southern Loop |

It's just way to far to travel Ian and not have a tested bike. The last attempt I did at racing. I built the bike and heard it run for about 20 minutes. Then loaded up and headed to Willow Springs. It didn't end well with the motor blown up. I can not really afford to do the Phillip Island bike at the caliber that I'm shooting for. But I only live once (that I know of) and am going to do this. If it takes another year to be fully prepared?? Then so be it.
My rider has the lap record at Phillip Island in his appropriate class on a 1991 ZX7 so I am hoping for a top 10 in the IC class. Anything better and I will be ecstatic.
His name is Mark Wilkinson. I met him at Eastern Creek last year and liked him and his dad John very much. That's when I came up with this hair brained idea and it never dawned on me the full expense. Once I got home and started adding it up. It comes to around 40K all in trip and all.
I just want to see how my stuff with V&H parts goes against the best on the planet and PI is the place to see.
I got work to do. Finishing off my crankshaft today. So far it's 7lbs 8oz.s lighter then a stock 900 crank. It's as close to Brents design as I can get with my tools and the time I'm willing to put into it.
Peace, Jim |

I would love to see both Brent and Jims race bikes in the flesh, I can feel a plan formulating, in fact seeing a whole bunch of Aussie boldors would be awesome, going to have to dedicate a bit more time to my build, last time I was at the island was 1989, when Wayne Gardiner won on the 500's the atmosphere was electric, we ere on the southern stand, which by the photo, was a lot closer to the track than it is now! was on a boldor back then too, a bunch of mates and I drovean old bus from Perth, we towed a cattle trailer with 5 bikes on, brilliant fun...... |

Yes I also have been watching Roland build his two CBX's. He couldn't get his new ported head in time and had to use a stock head on one of the motors. He has one laying down 130HP and one putting out 116hp I believe.
Levi is Irish I believe and that is why he is running his bikes for Ireland.

Levi has been racing in the U.K. but he is a native Aussie.
His big advantage is that he has tons of time on Phillip Island track. |
