I'll be closing the shop for a week, back to work on August 15, 2016.
I'll be attending a memorial service for my brother Alan that passed away on the night of July 29, in his sleep. He was 68 and the twin of my brother Roger known here as "My CBF". He has two sons and 3 grand daughters and a grand son.
Alan was a well known, hot air balloon pilot flying for over 32 years, attending Albuquerque 26 years. He lived just outside of Denver, Colorado. He held a commercial license and his current "shaped" balloon "Pondemonium" was unique in design and readily identifiable to those on the ground. Al had flown in rallies around the United States, Canada and the Netherlands.
I would be his crew chief whenever he was on the east side of the Mississippi and other events.
He will be greatly missed.
J.R. |

I think Alan came to my house for dinner with Roger, one year at the Balloon Fiesta. I remember him as a personable guy with a sense of humor. May he Rest In Peace, and condolences to the Family, JR.

I'm back at it but, admittedly abbreviated.
It's been a difficult week and I thank all of you for sending out prayers, good thoughts and condolences to me and my family. It will take time to find the "new normal".
The early demise of my brother has showed me many things: Tell and show the folks around you that you love them, spend more time with them. Get the things done that you truly want to do in case you exit prematurely.
And most of all, clean out the garage!
Drop me a note if you care to, I'll be here getting the gears to start turning again.
