Alaska Grizz's wife Pam sent me the following PM and Dave gave me permission to post it on the Forum. All who know him as well as other folks who have followed his posts, (he is very prolific and a terrific wrencher) will no doubt want to pass along good wishes for a speedy recovery.
"Hello John this is Daves wife Pam he had the surgery on the 27th the good news is that the cancer was stage one and all removed no further treatment for that. The bad news is that he now has a very sick bowel and is still in the hospital and has had 3 more surgeries and will be having another on Tuesday with a possible 3 more after that to close his stomach which is very swollen, it will be a process to get it closed. We are looking at another two weeks in the hospital. Dave is doing everything they tell him so we can get out of here. Right now they have him in icu because he is not closed up. He is actually doing pretty well. He asked me to ask you to pass this on to mike. Thanks Pam."

Such awful news, but it sounds like Dave will be ok after the surgeries are done.

I've worked at an Oncologist's office long enough to know that anytime you catch cancer early, your chances of getting through it is 100x better. Didn't know Griz on a personal level, but stuff like this hits close to home. Wish him the best, and for his family. It's a tough time for everyone involved. |

I really don't like this happening to anyone let alone another forum member. I do wish for you to get on top of this and your life return to what it was previously.
Positive thoughts to you.

Rest well and get well, Dave. You still have to guide us down the east side of Kenai to Seward.
