Built my own oven, maybe for pies or something else...

At the time I was working on my 750 and painting engine cases I faced problem with curing the VHT Engine Enamel. Engine cases, block and head did not fit into oven in my kitchen. I also did not like the idea of curing paint there and then put my pie in it so had to come by with other means. At that time I cured the paint in our sauna but now I decided to do somthing else and built new oven which is big enough.

Inside dimensions are 60x90x60cm so it is big enough to hold cases etc. I used 2.5kW over heater and a fan to warm up the oven. Temperature control is done with PID controller ordered from Ebay. All the elctric parts are put on the left side and are covered from outside with e sheet metal box.

I though I should make the construction such a way that I can easily take it apart and store in smaller space if needed. Therefore top, bottom and walls are all attached with wing nuts. It has wheels so it can be easily moved around. Material I used for the box is element that is used for building cruise ships cabins. It is 30mm thick plastic covered metal sheet, with mineral insulator sheet inside. As the element is open on the other side I used zinc covered sheet metal for the inside of the box. Elements were 200x90cm from where I just cut needed pieces and welded some angle iron to support the ends. Construction is very stiff, fast to put together.

Based on quick testing seems to work as expected. Takes about 2 minutes to heat up tp 100 degrees celcius and 15 minutes to 250 degrees celscius. There is still some leak on the top cover which I'm going to fix.

Nice! Baked paint is actually quite durable. I've used a BBQ before...

When I'm not baking anything I can use it as table. Wheels make it easy to move around.
