Hi all,
I am the original owner of a 1982 CB 900F. My first bike was a 1975 Kawasaki 500 triple two stroke and then I had a black 1980 CB 750F. I wish I still had both bikes. My next interest is possibly a 2014 CB1100EX or a 2015 Goldwing F6B. I purchased my 900 brand new in 84 or so for $1675.00. Love the bike. Tom

Welcome to CB1100F.NET Cool

Your bike looks great. I too wish I had some of the bikes (and cars) that I sold away.

It is a good practice to resize your photos to 800 x 600 but at least no more that 1024 x 768. Too big of photos do not display on one page and everyone has to scroll to see the picture.

Id like to find one of those luggage racks. But seems like the ones on ebay that come up are made of solid platinum. Last NOS part that was on ebay went for like 300 bucks or something ridiculous Laughing

Whats that fairing from? I bet that thing punches a gaping chasm in the air.

The fairing is made by Tracy and backrest by KG. I have the adjustable passenger backrest that I can slide forward for myself when riding alone.

Thanks. I've had no trouble with my 900 since I've owned it. Been doing regular oil changes, cam chain adjustments, plug changes etc. to keep it going. It has around 35k miles on it. I have had the valve shims checked by Honda dealers in the past but now I plan to start doing it myself. I plan to start on it tomorrow.

That's one huge handlebar fairing! Looks bigger & broader than the OEM fixed half-fairing from Hondaline! Does it have one of those balance weights on the fork or what?

WTF marque of fairing are we looking at here? I thought I knew most of the aftermarket fairings out there, but I don't think I've seen THIS one before. Reminds me of a Vetter "Mystery Ship" or something.

Well I don't mean to come off sounding like a know-it-all, it's just that I've spent literally thousands of hours diggin' around looking for just the fairings and fairing brackets themselves for these bikes, got something like 17,500 downloaded pics of bike probably 75% of which are DOHC-4 Honda, I leave 'em scrolling in slide-show mode and then pass out & spend my non-waking hours absorbing 'em via subconscious-osmotic sleep-learning - Hey that's no bullshit either, I literally wake up with my lap-top fanning warm air over my balls and bikes are the ONLY shit I look at online. If I'm on a "social-media" site I ain't socializing I'm looking for more bike shit, if I'm ogling pics of a scantily-clad female she's standing in the way of the bike I'm trying to get a better look at....

It's not that I'm so much surprised as HAPPY to find another new aftermarket fairing - it gives me hope I'll find a good aftermarket kit for fixing up my Duck 900SS Bevel-Bubble 1/2-fairing without having to weld a tube onto on the head-stock!

And hey - By way of an apology: I didn't mean to throw the name VETTER around like that. That's pretty nasty language 'round these parts, I do understand. (Though by no means as harsh as say, the "Naked Goldwings" forum!) And by "Mystery Ship" I didn't mean to imply anything Kawasaki-esque about this bike! It's just ... The LINES, the whole Sci-Fi vibe of the thing. That's all I was getting at.

Welcome to the site...Nice to see another original owner enjoying their bike 35 years later. Your bike still looks great!

They are out there...I had my bike out to a bar/restaurant at Montauk Point last week, and as I was leaving , one guy with a new Honda VFR1200 asked me about my bike, another guy with his wife passed by and casually blurted out "I have a silver 79 that I've had since it was new, great bike". I asked him, "you still ride it?" and he said, "Oh Yeah" as he was walking away.

Afterward, I wondered if he knew about the site, it's a great tool to keep your bike running well.

We ought to put together a sticker about the web-site, so when it's parked, folks will know ... where to sell the parts after they've stolen it and torn it apart. I mean, they'll know about the site whether you're there to tell 'em or not.

Maybe even a card to hand out to prospective new members etc, or leave it tucked into the gap between seat & tank on a bike you see sitting around. With an agreed upon design, 'F-olks could print 'em up and keep one in their wallet.

The T-shirt & hoodie was an awesome idea, I hope there's gonna be another batch? A patch to sew on the sleeve of a riding jacket would be another good idea.

More than anything though, a quick card to pass to a prospective noob. Especially when you see a derelict bike parked somewhere, to leave a card in the mail-box or tuck it into the bike somehow, if you can get away with sticking it into the tool-box then whoever winds up with the bike down the road maybe THEY'LL be able to save the poor thing?

They ARE out there, too. Still haven't figured out who it was living down the street from me, where my Ex and my Ex-Daughter still live - They had a red CB1100F and a black CB900F - this is in N.E. Calgary. "Hawkwood" neighborhood. I mean, if there's stuff like THAT rolling around out there and they're not members of the site? Then what all ELSE is hiding in those garages, NOT rolling around?

Was saddened that they rolled past every day while I was out in the driveway tinkering on my old '82 CB750F cafe project. I figure just about anybody on HERE would likely go out of their way to say "hi" to a stranger on an 'F-bike. So they've GOTTA be an out-sider.....

So - the brand of fairing is TRACY? As in the same guy who made the "Tracy Body" for SOHC Choppers etc? That's cool. I'd like to get my hands on one of them Tracy tank/seat units. I'd chop it up, use just the seat & side-covers - the tank would go on a much smaller bike, given it's capacity - the rear cowl could become a helmet visor or something ha-ha. A dust-pan for sweeping up the floor of the garage....

But hey - any pics on that fairing BRACKET?

Being that you're the bike's original owner, I'm guessing you're probably not gonna take the thing off any time soon....

Well then - does ANYBODY know whether there are pics on the site of ANY fairing brackets with the fiberglass taken off and just the bracket & frame showing fitment, orientation, etc?

I'm anxious to get another bracket but I've already collected ONE that ain't gonna fit. And it's inspiring another project already. ("Feather-Weight 750 Dust-Bin With Drums For Ever" ... "FW750DBWDFE"???) *cough* - Meaning the more fairing brackets I collect that's one more entire BIKE I'm gonna have to build! Ha-ha.

Am hovering over the purchase of an OEM CB900F2 bracket, And at the same time looking at the "universal" fairing brackets from the likes of Airtech, as well as equivalent units from "Flat-Racer", the BMW fairing site. The head-stock clamp type. Thing is, for the $$$ and how flimsy those units look, I'd just as soon spend it on a stick-welder or heck even some welding services, and have this here threaded bung welded to the head-stock. It's cut from a gas-pipe T-fitting. Of course, that's CAST steel pipe for the low-pressure gas line, and what I should do is cut another one from a STEAM fitting, which would be welded-up ductile steel hence much better for welding #1 but also no doubt far superior for fatigue resistance, vibration etc. See a threaded bung seems better IMHO, than a plain slip-fit tube, 'cause it'd grip really well yet have a lower profile, working better with the fairing OFF of the frame and a headlight bucket. Being that most alloy adjustable bar-clamp style clip-on bars need a lot of clearance between the fork tube and head-stock. Put too much of a welded-up tube in there, you wouldn't be able to use certain fork shrouds "headlight ears" clip-on bars or other such items on the fork. A thin tube COULD project forward past the tubes etc, but you'd just barely clear it past bare 39mm fork tubes at the steering stops - it would become it's OWN steering stops ha-ha. So yeah, a threaded bung for say, 1/2" NPT or 3/4" NPT at the max - maybe even TWO of 'em for two tubes above and below, maybe one for the clocks and the other for the fairing, oil-cooler, lights etc etc.

The clamp-on / wrap-around style fairing brackets really bug me too, for more or less the same reasons. Though you'd have no more reason to keep 'em once you'd taken the fairing off and run it NEKKID. However, interference with the adjustable type clip-on bars IS a problem. Especially since I've modified my top-yoke and can't fit a CLUBMAN bar anymore - adjustable type "Jota" bars from RAASK that is. OR a good welded Clubman that actually FITS properly.....

The OEM CB900F2 bracket looks pretty promising. I'm just worried that it's gonna fit down low, just like the Hondaline CB900C/CB750C CUSTOM bracket did. That, and that I'm gonna have to cut off a whole lot from the front end of it anyhow. And will likely need a top-rear stabilizer rod bent down & run through the steering stem etc. Thing is, I wanna use a steering-stem STEERING DAMPER with the long threaded through-rod & Bakelite knob etc. Well I'd like to keep it an option anyhow. I'm building one for a CB900F fork alright but it's for the KZ440LOL, I'd just like to be able to pop it onto the "Bol Bomber" and try the thing out. So that rear stabilizer bar would likely wind up attached to the FRAME, in the gap under the "collar" of the CB1100R gas-tank. But there aren't any LUGS down there for it to attach to! Argh.

In all likelihood, the OEM CB900F2 bracket will have to be welded up with all sorts of new stuff, extended to the rear on the top "shelf", opened up in the front, etc etc.

At which point, the thing might as well be built using parts from this here Hondaline CB900C/CB750C unit!

I'm on the horns of an enema here.

So YEAH - if anybody's got good pics of the bare fairing brackets? It would really help.

I've got good pics from all angles, of a "nekkid" CB1100Rc/d with the bare bracket bolted up. However THAT'S a unit I'll never be able to find, (again) let alone afford. And IT wouldn't even fit right either. For starters, it's got a bolt-up lug welded to the front of the head-stock.

It's really more about the CB900F2 bracket and/or any aftermarket brackets, THAT'S what I'm really looking for here.

Yes. I had a 1980 CB750 at the time and my mom thought I was crazy buying another motorcycle. I bought my 900 for $1675 brand new in 1984 or so from a Honda dealer on Fon du lac avenue in Milwaukee. Not sure if the dealer is there anymore. I had both bikes for awhile until I sold the 750. I was 19 years old.
