What is hip, tell me tell me....

I am now finally scheduled for my 2nd hip Arthroplasty (right one) on 4-11-16... (left one was done 18 years ago) Hip hip hurray! so to speak... It's about time! I haven't been able to even get on a bike for 5 years!

For various reasons, from corporate greed to what used to be called pre existing conditions, I was shut out of getting insurance and getting this done, but it's finally happening.

Time to go weigh/count and bag some bolts and valve stem seals... Laughing

Hey Gene, what kind of insurance coverage did you secure that covered this pre-existing condition? Good luck with your tune-up.

Gene, I couldn't be happier for you since I know what you're going through waiting. Is your surgeon using the anterior approach or the more conventional method? Mine was anterior and I'm on week 2 with my new hip and hardly have a limp now.

Great news Gene....between you and Tom, hopefully this encourages my buddy Bobcat to get his done. He can't even hardly get around much less work in the shop or ride too...

Yep, that's been pretty much my situation too, I know what that's like. Wanting it and being able to get it aren't always the same thing though.

Good luck to you Gene, I had a knee replaced recently, all the pain and rehab was well worth it.

My cousin had both done five years ago at age 80. Since then he's going strong and gets around almost too good. The family wants him to take it easy. He kinda sneak gardens early in the morning so as not to catch Hell. Both hips and knees within six years and he says he's never felt better. Good Luck,no worries!

So yesterday marked 2 weeks since my surgery. I am walking around my room on 2 feet now without a cane or a walker. I don't do it for long, nor do I do it in public where I might get bumped, but within a week I hope to be in pretty good shape to be walking unassisted just about anywhere, is my goal.

Awesome news Gene. Hopefully you can start riding within a couple of months. I bet you can't believe how much better you feel already. Removing all that pain makes a huge difference.

Have you got a zimmer frame?
If so I think a pic of you "riding" it would be appropriate for the thread.

I had to look that one up... we just call em walkers here... Laughing

I'm hoping on not even using one by the time I get home if at all possible, maybe one with Smoothbores, Megacycle cams, and an MSD ignition would be ok ... Wink

Better do a suspension and wheel upgrade.........
