Met Larry several times while living a few miles from him in Indiana. Stand up guy, one of the best. I don't have any words. Hope you recover Larry.

I don't think Larry has much in the way of health insurance. Should I set up a GoFundMe account that would go to Larry's wife?
They will take an 8% cut, money that could otherwise go to Larry. I would much rather put cash in a get well card and send it along.
Or if we would like to donate as a group, collect the funds using Paypal Friends and Family (no fees for Larry) and pass one big check for Chris to use as she sees fit. I would be honored to set this up for Larry, he has been such a big help to this (former) newbie. If there is interest we can start a new thread to organize, set a deadline for donations, and start collecting.

Great idea Rick. I didn't know about their fee until after I posted last night. 8% is defininitely money that Chris will need. The PayPal route sounds like the way to go. The guys over in the CBXWorld forum will want to contribute too, so once this is set up, I can let them know. Thanks for taking this on.

Very SAD to hear about Larry....
Prayers and Thoughts...
My Brother was in a coma for 6 weeks after being hit in a crosswalk (someone ran a red light) and Parents made the choice to keep him going.. AND he came out of it... We know Miracles can happen.
Stay with us Larry!!!

Chris called me a little while ago with the latest update. Earlier today, a couple of tests were performed on Larry to check brain function and activity. The news was not good - it appears that there's almost no activity at all, which means that he's virtually brain dead. I was really hoping for a much better report. I believe that some friends and family are going to meet there tomorrow morning to say goodbye to our good friend. Around 11am they're going to take him off the ventilator.
Take a few moments tomorrow around that time and think about Larry. I think it would be great if all of you would come here and write down some memories of him - maybe a special encounter or conversation, actually meeting him, or whatever. Make it as long as you want. So many of us have stories to tell about our relationship with him. And once we have filled the pages, I'll copy them all and send them to Chris. I doubt she truly realizes how many friends he has all over the world and how many people he's helped out. It will mean a lot to her.
I have no doubt that Larry is already in a much better place.

He called me in April to try to get me to come to the NE ride....
I just couldn't do it.....
He would call occasionally just to shoot the shit....we would knock back a
Six-Pack on the phone and laugh.....just an excellent conversationalist....
His dry posts here were nothing like that guy at all.....his enthusiasm for
Hondas was unmatched.....and he has parts to build like 50 bikes....
Told me anytime I needed something....just call.
I can't say how sad I am right now....

Larry knew I absolutely love Gold Boomies from a post
I made on a set Tom powder coated and that I wanted a set for the 887 project which is a gold/black theme. He sent me a message and said "I have a set of gold Boomies and you're welcome to buy them". Whenever I needed something off the wall strange, Larry had it. Cool thing for me is, now every time the 887 is out, I'll be thinking about my friend who hooked me up with the gold boomies, And Chris? Ya gotta love a girl who's e-mail is "iridetoofast"....God bless you both.....

I haven't been on here in forever and it pains me to come back to post on a topic such as this. I have an inbox full of private messages from Larry I did not delete simply because they contained information that wasn't easily accessible. Being from Indiana myself I think sort of allowed us to click when we spoke to one another. He helped me many many times and even supplied me with parts NLA from honda to help with my build. Just terrible. I'm not sure what things like this all mean; accidents DO happen....and sometimes they happen to really good people. Larry is good people. I logged on to pay my respects. Godspeed.

Tom, thanks for being our conduit to Chris and Larry. That latest news really SUCKS!!
I first met Larry at the 2013 NE Spring Ride in Oneonta. He was a great guy to talk to, ride with, and have beer(s) with when the parking lot party took place.
I have some video of him riding Todd's GPZ on the Spring Ride of this year in Saratoga.
I also have this pic I took of Larry (with Rat and Fitter) when he arrived in Oneonta as my wallpaper on my computer at work.
This is one of my favorite pics of Larry!
Here are my youtube video links of Larry riding ahead of me, what a rebel, no glove, no jacket...
Larry was the first person I ever dealt with as a new F owner. Of course the bike I just got wasn't charging. I ordered a stator from a seller on Ebay and when it arrived it didn't work. I thought it was going to be a real problem. I didn't know who Larry was but finally put 2 and 2 together somehow and realized the ebay seller happened to be a forum member so I explained the situation not expecting much. Larry just cheerfully refunded my purchase included shipping. No hassle at all. I was so happy. I never got to meet him but I always knew he was a standup guy. Accidents happen around the house all the time. I don't know the statistics but I can't tell you how many crazy stunts I've done standing on a ladder or something else and thought it was pretty unwise for me to be doing so. Maybe next time I'll be a little more careful and think of a guy we all lost when we didn't need to. It's interesting how this forum is an electronic family I've had for years. Godspeed Larry.

This really is not good news.
I`ve only dealt with Larry once and needed a steering stem for my Evolution to fit up my RC51 triples. He had one in the post the next day and only had to pay for the cost of shipping. Have ridden with him a few times on the spring rides and always thought he was crazy to be ridding in a t-shirt and no gloves, but that was just him and you can`t fault him for that. I hope for the best and wish he pulls through this!

On this years Spring Ride Larry was quite concerned about a tiny bit of oil dripping from my bike. To placate him I pulled over only to find oil gushing from my valve cover. He and the Swede pulled over to assist so that the gang could continue the ride. He then rode back to the hotel with the Swede (to pick up the recovery vehicle) and then back to me again for the rescue. He showed that day that his concern over his fellow riders was greater than getting in the ride for himself.
Thanks Larry, you will be missed!

I only had a brief encounter with Larry when he hauled a bike from NY to his place for me...
Such a great man that seemed to have loved his hobby of bikes...
For me, I'm reminded of my health issue about 10 years ago that could have cut my life short....
That's my point...Life is short!
Enjoy every moment, cherish the loved ones in your life and live life to the fullest.

I had the pleasure of riding with Larry on a few Northeast Rides. It was always a pleasure talking with him in the parking lot over a few beers. Larry also helped me out on a couple occassions with shims and parts. Truely a quality guy!

I'm woven in a fantasy
I can't believe the things I see
The path that I have chosen now
Has led me to a wall
And with each passing day
I feel a little more like something dear was lost
It rises now before me
A dark and silent barrier between
All I am, and all that I would ever want be
It's just a travesty
Towering, marking off the boundaries
My spirit would erase
To pass beyond is what I seek
I fear that I may be too weak
And those are few who've seen it through
To glimpse the other side
The promised land is waiting
Like a maiden that is soon to be a bride
The moment is a masterpiece
The weight of indecision's in the air
Standing there, the symbol and the sum of all that's me
It's just a travesty
Towering, blocking out the light and blinding me
I want to see
Gold and diamonds cast a spell
It's not for me I know it well
The riches that I seek
Are waiting on the other side
There's more than I can measure
In the treasures of the love that I can find
And though it's always been with me
I must tear down the wall and let it be
All I am and all that I was ever meant to be
In harmony
Shining true and smiling back at all who wait to cross
There is no loss
Jebby

I have known Larry online for several years, mostly from our mutual CBX habit, and more recently Ian Foster invited me to join him and Larry and Chris at the UK CBX Club rally in Northern Ireland. Larry spoke and emailed with me and really encouraged me to go, citing both Ian's incredible hospitality, as well as the beautiful scenery and the excellent cultural experience.
I met Larry and Chris in person finally this past August, and Ian hosted us all at his family's farmhouse in Ireland - a beautiful, bucolic spot, with an incredibly warm and welcoming family. We enjoyed meals and tea around the kitchen table, and a really memorable day touring the nearby countryside and visiting "Joey's Bar", a pub attached to a nearby train depot in Ballymoney, Ireland. We were all in heaven drinking a pint of Guinness and chatting with Joey Dunlop's widow Linda about Joey and the other racers in the Dunlop family, and viewing the memorabilia including one of Joey's race bikes.
Larry was like a big kid that day - couldn't wait to get there, took photos of everything, wanted to look at everything, just taking it all in as much as he possibly could. So in the moment. He took this photo for me at Joey Dunlop's monument nearby, and I took one of him, but unfortunately with his own camera so I don't have it to share.
Larry is a kind and gentle man, generous, warm, and passionate about the things he loves, most of all his wife Chris who is clearly his best friend.
Still hoping for a miracle, but wherever your journey takes you next Larry, I hope there is clean asphalt on your way and I know there will be friends waiting when you get there.
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

With heavy heart, I have the news that no one knowing Larry wanted to hear. He passed away this morning at 11:26 am.
Many of us know how generous Larry was in life. He is also generous in death as he's donating his organs with the hope that someone will benefit and live on in his spirit.
I firmly believe that he's in a wondrous place now - pain free, age free, and ethanol free! A place where gasoline never goes bad, carbs never gunk up, charging systems don't fail, tires don't wear out, chains never loosen up, valves don't need adjusting, and paint doesn't fade or scratch. Every day is a perfect riding day and if you don't want to wear leathers or a helmet, you don't have to. A place where speed limits don't exist and the twisties never end...
Chris has tentative plans to hold a service at their home next Saturday, November 7th - more details to come. Some of us plan to make the ride out and pay our respects to our brother and his family.
I have some personal "Larry memories" to share later, but for now I'll just let this sink in. It was a tough day waiting to hear the news.
