Countries Where 1100F Was Sold

Was the 1100F sold in any other countries than the USA?

Canada,Europe and Australia.not sure about any others maybe Japan,South Africa
and New Zeeland ??

Definately sold in Japan, worked on a Japanese model that was imported here. All the labels in Japanese.

Always been my understanding that Japanese domestic sales were restricted to 750cc during that era - hence the current popularity of importation of used bikes like the CB900F and CB1100F from the US.

I'd love to see some pictures of the bike you worked on.

And curiously, Honda UK decided to not sell it to us in dear old Blighty.

Apparently they weren't worried about proving anything as the 1100R had already done that, they were already seriously overstocked with 900FD models and were seriously discounting them to try and shift them, and most importantly, they didn't want to take attention away from the new V four's that were due out.

You could buy one here new if you went to Bol D'or motorcycles in Worthing, as they saw the opportunity and were importing them from Belgium, complete with a full Honda 12 month warranty.

I don't think that was the case in 1983 anymore. In the Seventies, yes. But late 70s/early 80s that changed.

That's rather inconclusive. The country codes are generic for every Honda non-U.S. parts list. It shows quite a few "This type has not been produced yet" and there is no proof they ever were.

I don't have any photos of the Japanese bike I worked on and it's long gone.
However, my Japanese customer gave me 2 books from Japan dedicated to F bikes.

One is titled CB-F 750/900/1100 Owners Bible. The headings are in English but the rest on the book is in Japanese. The 1100Fs that are in the book look like the Canadian model but with the long rear fender and say Super Bold'er under the CB1100F on the side covers. Typical Red and Blue models but others in 900 colors with CB1100F on the sides. Others too in 750 paint schemes but definately say CB1100F on the sides.
Granted I can't read Japanese to interprite the text but all the photos with the owners look like Japan to me.

The other book is writen the same way, English titles and Japanese text. More of a enthusiast magazine by "Hyper Bike" volume 14. Cover title says "Honda CB750F" in big type and just below it says "900F/1100F/1100R".
It has many articles about different owners and about half of the magazine has ads for different parts and accessories like the parts we've seen on "Webike".
There are 2 pages that show all the different paint schemes that were available from Honda as illustrated on the side covers. Within the Japanese text for the 1100 it says in English "CB1100FD" then some Japanese then "Super Bold'er". The 2 side covers depicted are a Blue (as we've all seen) and the Red has the Super Bold'er under the 1100F as mentioned before. In this book there are about 10 color pages of F bikes with their owners. Many 750s and 900s but about 8 1100s (1 in silver) and a couple 1100Rs.

Swiftnick has seen these 2 so maybe he'll chime in and give his impression. Additionally, I'll talk with my customer to see if all these were sold there or just brought back.

I sold a new OEM CB1100F KPH speedometer last year that I bought off eBay from a seller in Ireland back in 2004.

This should be a European version. CB1100F was called Super Bol d'Or there. The long rear fender also has a reflector on it. Same as on the 1100R

Back in 1983 I was shown a certificate that belonged to an owner of an 1100f.
I remember that the bike was numbered as one of at least 50 or 50 something 1100fs brought into the country.
Price was $5000 and something new.

I'll try and get in touch with the guy in question and see if he can shed some light on the subject.
