Anyone know where to score the little screw and knob for the speedometer trip reset? My reset works but there is no knob just the stem. Thanks in advance.

Hello Quickster2:

Yeah, I made mine. Here is what I wrote in another thread on this forum:

Actually, the OEM knob fell off during my first long ride with the bike when I did a tour with the Michigan F guys with Redstedman two years ago.

Anyway, it is a radio knob that had the D shape of the I.D. to fit the shaft on the gauge panel. The O.D. of the knob was too large, so it got turned down to size. Then found the 2.3X8 flat head screw and drilled a hole down the center of the knob in order to have the screw hold the knob in place.

I also had the thought of making up a batch of these to sell if anyone was interested.

I think SBParks found out that the same knob is used on some other gauge clusters. (GL1100?) Do a search and you may find the thread. I'm not sure if you can buy just the knob, but the cluster may not be a ton of money if it's for a common bike.

Here's the instrument cluster you need to secure the knob AND screw.

They do come up broken every now and then With the pieces you need.

GOOD LUCK--it may take some time but worth the effort.

Hi.

Tom beat me to it... I bought an instrument cluster for a Goldwing. Check on ebay and you'll find several. A bit pricey, but you can sell what you don't use. The Goldwing's screw is the correct diameter, but not the correct length.

David Silver Spares (?) Also shows the part, but usually out of stock.

Good luck.

Scott

Hello Chad:

Yes, it was J.R. (CBX-tras) that made it for me in the first place. Might be time to make up a small batch and see how they sell.

Any new news on this?

My knob disintegrated today after a gas up...

I repaired these 2 purely by accident only because I saved the knobs off an old radio. They had the same 4mm "D" shaped indent that mated up to the 1100F trip meter shaft.
I turned down the OD and drilled out the center for the screw.

Not on my radar at the moment to pursue for the masses, sorry.
