Did anybody ever confirm if these were still available for our beloved F's? As I recall from the original post the current ones available were too short for our bikes and I can no longer find that post via search.
Thanks, |

There was a memeber in South Dakota that had a few NOS/NIB K&L# 05767, but they are all gone now.
As far as I know these have been out of production for quite some time. This would be the place to stir one up though.

Unless you can cut it down somehow without ruining it Nick, I don't see them having any for the Custom dipstick. |

Since the CB900C dipstick is shorter than the F model you could simply machine up a short extention made out of aluninum pipe with male dipstick treads on the bottom & female dipstick threads on the top. Screw it into the CB900C oil pump cover with an O ring & some red or green loctite and then use a F model length dipstick from that ponit on.

The Caveman Way, is if your skin doesnt stick to the crank case covers, the oil is just fine and dandy.....
Years ago, or was it beers?, Stout bought one of those for his first 900F. In the time he had it, and the time I had it, I NEVER saw the oil temp change whatso ever once it reached operating temp. It was a kool device, but after awhile it was looks only.....
On my old Ninj 900, I spliced into the radiator plumbing and attached a temp gauge. Where the oil cooler runs into the crankcase a similiar splice could be done for an aftermarket oil temp guage, but Im not all that jazzed that it would be worth it. Come on, these are 20+ year old bikes and if oil temp was ever an issue here, they would have DIED off years ago........ or an aftermarket fix would have been available 2 years after production stopped... Remember the 1981 Motorcyclist Mag @ Willow Springs? 24 Hour Endurance test? Oil temp was NEVER an issue...Fatigue was...but not the oil..and they were running that beotch flat out most of the time
Besides, Howie didnt think it was neccesary, even for a 130HP bike. He just enlarged the oil cooler.......
Just me and my soapbox here.....

You put something together with green loctite and it coming unscrewed is the last of your worries.

180-250F. (82-121C.) for petroleum based oils. 180-300F. (82-149C.) for synthetics. You can crowd these numbers by 25F. if you have to. Beyond that you are really pushing your luck. This is in the oil pan oil temps.
