I got a PM that Larry (from Ft Lauderdale) was in Alaska on an epic ride go over all the main roads in Alaska. This is truly an impressive goal since many roads in Alaska's more remote areas are dirt or mud if it is raining. Anyway, I took BB out to meet him at the campsite and we went out for a couple of beers and dinner.

He is leaving for points south of Anchorage this week and then up to the north later. I told him about he "most Westerly" road point in North America. I hope he gets a chance to see it.

I hope he stops back in to see me on his way back from the southern roads.

Dave

I told Larry about our run-in with the law and about the sign. Hope he finds it and goes slooooooooooow in the Park.

It was good to meet the Northern most F'er in person. A truly nice guy who is very proud of his city and family. Oh yeah, he is proud of Black Beauty as well. And he definitely should be. This area of the country is simply stunning in its beauty, words cannot describe how beautiful Alaska and western Canada are. It is a breath taking experience you have to see for yourself. And if you want advice on local roads and a very good beer, Dave is your man. Next is another month of playing up here before meeting my wife in BC to spend three weeks riding home. Hopefully her VFR is up to the challenge.

Sounds like a great trip. I'm envious.

Don't be. Your day will come. I am doing 10 weeks to celebrate my retirement with my wife shopping her bike and joining me in Vancover for the final 3 weeks down the west coast to visit Grump and then cross country to Florida.

Larry, my head hurts reading about the way VFR's seem to chew up their charging systems over at VFR World

The 6th gen VFRs have a charging system fix, not necessary for the 2008 version because Honda fixed it, but it's available for $80 or so from wiremybike.com The fix turned on and off the alternator so you dont burn up the regulator/rectifier. I installed on even though I've got an '08. Seemed like it couldn't hurt anything. I've got 30K on the VFR in less than 3 years. zero problems. I want problems because it's got a warranty, but no luck.
