"Farsi is a Persian language"
EXCEPT, folks of Persian descent, see it as denoting nationality, also.....
Farsi is more Persian EMPIRE, then just Iran alone... |

I've been playing baseball since I was 10 yrs old. I played centerfield until the coach saw me throw the first time from the outfield to homeplate, during the first week of practice. He called me in to the infield, gave me the ball and said get your butt on the bump in the middle of the field. I was sidearm, threw hard, and amasingly at that age, accurate. I played all the way up until high school, got a job after school to pay for a brand new '84 Nighthawk 650, ( I really wanted a CB1100F), started playing again after high school in a very hard core men's league. Even had a pro try out in the early 90's. Didn't pan out like we all dream about.
Funny thing is fastball isn't even my best pitch, it's my curveball. It's just plain dirty! My nick name from all the young college kids I play with is Hammer, because I throw the curve and it's like droppin' the hammer! Very few of them can touch it. Still going at 36yrs old, but damn it hurts places I've never felt before!
Fastball just sounds better with the kind of toys I like. |

i have to admit there are some very inventive nicknames.....family,job,hobby,appearance you name it. Mine is fairly obvious but says little about me....a firecaptain in Toronto,Ontario,Canada...born in 59...hence firemun59 (yes I can spell - fireman was used somewhere else - another site so I used firemun here too). Worked as a researcher in Forestry before funding dried up....became a firefighter in 1985......whoa brian......nickname not life story....and well you all know about my good looking son RYAN...by the way he is doing well...... |

TDEM = The Drexel Engineering Machine
I go to Drexel University in Philly, and I'm going to be a biomedical engineer in about 1.5 years... stupid 5 year program.
I got this name because most of our classes are called "tDEC" 101, 102, 103... you know. That stands for The Drexel Engineering Ciriculum, which has been adopted by several other prestigious engineering colleges for our teach methods and structure cause Drexel rules. so since i'm an F'ing machine, TDEM stuck cause i don't do much work, engineering just comes easily to me. |

TigreST: One of my other passions and pursuits in my limited free time, besides motorcycle restoration projects (and raising two great kids), is control line model stunt planes. Yes, "those ones that you fly in a circle on a piece of string in the school yard." Well, that's a very dated view of the hobby, but does somewhat (extremely loosely) describe the activity. The models I fly are just a bit larger then the "Ready To Fly" Cox plastic models that many may have seen as kids. My current model is a scratch built design of my own making, which fly's on 68ft long, .018 dia. stainless steel seven strand braided cables at approx. 60mph. Model engine power of choice comes from a company called Super Tigre who once produced there product in Italy,..they have now moved off shore to China. Having read for years how well these motors perform I was at long last able to purchase a few of them to put in my models. Just one of those things that a "real job" allows one to do. I just spun the words and letters around a bit to come up with what you see here for a net handle. The TigreST Avatar is actually one of the ST company logo's. I first used the handle as an i.d. for my flying model forums,...didn't see any need to change it. I guess I'm also a bit of a Detroit Tiger baseball fan too. What I mean is,...I use to like to drink a few beers, eat a dog or two while watching the game at the old Tigre Stadium,...not sure if that makes me a fan or not? Don't ask me for any stats on the team. The scratch built model is pictured below. The engine is a Super Tigre .46cid and can turn a 12" dia. carbon fiber two blade prop at 12000 plus in flight. The "Super Tucano" has a 56" wing span and weighs approx 70oz's (which is to heavy really). So there you have it (yeah, that's me with the plane.)
There is a stack of models to build,...er right after I get a bike back on the road. (uh... you there Gord?)

My username is pretty easy Mike the rocket guy
Basically mike who likes rockets.
I do prefer the High Power kind ,a pretty basic
rocket will fly 3000 feet with over the counter
rocket engine.
It will only take 6-10 seconds depending on the
size:)
Me and my 8 year old fly some
Estes stuff as well.

Both really cool hobbies I had groing up until I hit the age of driving. Planned on becoming an aerospace engineer at one time from about the age 6 to about 16-17. Took my really cool SUperTiger .51 out of my trainer which came with a crappy O.S. .40. Swapped it into a kit I got from a guy called Bridi and made a swept forward wing out of it. Did not realize how touchey the swept forawd design was and stuck it into some big cacti down south of Tucson before I could even get a nice picture. Man I was upset for weeks over that. Only the second flight too. If I could have learned it's caracteristics a little better it could have made a cool stunt plane with almost unlimited virtical capabilities. Got into making my own rockets too, but I had more fun with somthing I could control. Bought a new .51 and only used it for a short while in my trainer. Might be selling it if anyone is interested.
I also moved up to payson and the one flying area there is is a dirt strip, so I kinda lost the hobbie.
Going to go to the Regional Airling Acadamy in DeLand FLorida in about a year and I will be an airline pilot soon thereafter. That's why I love my bike. Best thing next to flying. |

Just like some of the others not too much creativity went into my username. Simply last name first initial (Matt). I have used it as my e-mail for as long as I have had e-mail, through many different ISPs. My memory isn't the greatest so it's easy to remember. It seems pretty unique also.
On a different note, I can't believe how many people's usernames are framiliar to me, that I have been reading wrong all this time. Not the meanings, just the pronounciation. Until you all broke some of them down, I have been saying them wrong in my head while looking right at the actual letters. Funny how your mind tries to make sense of things. Now that we know the history behind some of the names the butchering of peoples usernames in my head can stop. |

Funny how that works, isn't it? There are some usernames that I have wondered about for almost the whole time I've been here. Had to just classify it as "Things that make you go...Hmmmmm"... |

26 Vega's, Monza's, Pontiac Astre's and Sunbirds, Buick Skyhawk or Olds Starfires. I've had 'em all which were all based on the same engine and chassis.
I know the size of every bolt on a Vega. Yanking an engine out is ten minutes and most of that is letting the coolant drain.
I hope someday to know F's like I do with Vega's and now somewhat with Triumph Spitfires. |

I could do a complete valve job on my 1991 Pontiac Sunbird with the 2.0 in about 4 hours. Pretty sad when you have a peice of poo engine apart soooo many times you can do it in the complete dark without lights. |

I used to write an article for the monthly SF HOG chapter paper under the guise of some old curmudgeon. It was fun because only the editor of the paper knew who it was so I could poke fun at myself as director of that motly crew, verious members, events and Harley Davidson for trying to patent to sound of THOSE motorcycles. My brother and dad ran a garage and speed shop in Grand Prairie between Dallas and Fort Worth. We were next to a General Motors
dealership and all the racers would come to our shop to BS and get
work done. We built them all, I've done Boss Ford (302), plenty of
small and fat block Chevies and even 50 ft. Cigarette boats for all the
car dealership owners in the Metroplex area. Our specialty tho was
American Motors (AMC) cars, mainly '69-70 AMX two seaters like
Corvette. Most people thought if we could make those run we could
make anything run. We ran a bracket AMX in the mid '70s that would
bust off high 9's at 139-140 mph. My younger brother was president
of the Texas Pro Stock association for awhile and we toured a match
race 720 cubic inch bigblock Camaro that ran over 200 mph on nitrous. |
