RedRowdy was my CB handle back in the day! Was heavily involved in off road bugs/racing and mine was red. The Rowdy part came from my actions and was given to me by friends over a campfire and lots of beer. Maybe it had something to do with that campfire as it was an old VW block we got burning...man that thing burned hot and bright!!! |

I'm a Jr with my Dads name, hence a nickname was in order I guess.
Yogi Bear-my favorite cartoon when I was a very young boy. My father started it because when he said "Yogi" I'd come running thinking the cartoon was on. That was 50 years ago. Some people still call me Yogi when they see me. They have known me all my life.
Most people know me as Ron. |

Wow, this is a pretty long thread.
On the C forum, I made a new handle: Azure-spall. Literally 'blue shard.' Didn't fit too well so I just used my common handle, sofur.
Garnered mainly from a penchant of mine for soft things and animals: soft-fur
Yeah that's it, really. I think it's actually a word or a name in Germanic languages but I dunno. Used it or, when not available, sofur14 since about 2004 or '05. 14's my lucky number is all. |

Got my name from a group of girls I hang out with. They started calling me Wang Dangle a couple years ago and it has gone through many different versions. Wangy Dangy, Dangle, Wayne Dangle, etc. |

My usual nickname is Diputs. If read backwards it explains itself. Was given to me after loosing sunglasses on my head.
Cheers

When I moved to Sydney from the country in 1980, the people I started work with asked me where I used to live.
When I told them the name of my home town, they'd never heard of it, so I'd say near Dubbo (a major rural town).
So I became "Dubbo"for a while until I eventually came to be called Dobbo by one of my workmates who I ended up sharing a house with, along with a couple of other guys who have ended up being lifelong friends. |

when I was in college, a professor always made fun of me because I had a "chin strap" beard, and he said that I looked like an Amish guy. My school was in a bad part of St. Louis, MO and one day someone told me that a guy was standing by my car so I went out to look and he was trying to break into it in the middle of the day. I walked calmly over to him and jacked him right in the head (he was playing it cool like it was his car and he didn't know that I was the owner). The guy ran off and got away, but my professor said that he had never seen an Amish person fight... hence the nickname Fighting Amish |

Magpie - from the dictionary "a person that collects trivial objects". I change that to "a person that collects shiny trivial objects". A friend named me that after going through the obsolete parts bin at his shop. Cliff. |

When I was in high school, my buddies and I all used the term peeler, I don't know who came up with it but in our context a peeler was a term applied to anyone or anything that we liked and thought was cool... as in "That cb750f is a real peeler". Then I took the term with me to college and used it and my college buddies started calling me peeler. Sadly, I don't use the term much any more as that was almost 20 yrs ago but I use it for all my forum names.
Ahhh those were the days.... |
