Update $1400! What do you think of this for $1500 bucks? PIX

I have a line on this GL1000, but the wifey is pissed cause we have a vacation coming up end of July. Says I shouldn't spend the $$$$.

This is a rare find only 25K miles and runs perfect! Only $1500 and that's the most he'll take. Wink

That's a decent deal. I got my '77 GL1000 with <22K miles for $500, but after I overhauled the carbs, replaced the belts, got a new Big Crank battery, bought replacement turn signals, (it came dressed with FUGLY white fairing, bags, trunk) bought an OEM seat, headlight, rebuilt the entire front brake system and forks, adjusted the valves and replaced the valve cover gaskets and bolt rubbers, etc. I was into it for over $1500. If the bike is running well, has good tires and battery, then you're starting off in better shape than I did. Fortunately, I enjoyed doing the work and learned a lot in the process, so I have no regrets.

That must be a '78 with the Comstars. The bodywork looks pretty nice. How are the tires and brakes? Find out if the belts have been replaced because you don't want one breaking - GL's have interference motors.

Sounds like your biggest challenge is Wifey. See if you can get the price down to around $1200 and convince her that it's a deal too good to pass up. Let me know how it goes. You'll have to join the NGW forum if you buy it. They have a GREAT site.

P.S. The OEM exhaust looks nice. If it's in good shape, those are worth some money.

It is a 76 GL1000 and the wheels are Lester mags. He has a new seat cover and mint spoke wheels from when he put on the Lester's.

It's a fabulous bike, and a rare color.

That's right, but I don't want to insult the guy. If it half of what he say's it is, it;s worth it. Also I know some people who know the bike and they say its sweet.

I was just gonna say....

The Lesters ALONE are worth $500-600.00 ! Easy. They were the shiznit in the day and one of the few aftermarket sturdy wheels available.

That's the second year and a rare color as most were red.

THAT is an incredible buy Nunzio, congrats !!!

I think they may be Morris wheels? Its hard to tell, either way I'll take them.

I'm not sure, I really didn't want one in this nice condition. I think I'll leave it stock for a while, maybe lower bars, lower the bike a little.
Clean it up freshen up the paint. Basically make it look new.

I dig it. If I wasn't still wringing my hands over a basketcase cb500 that's exactly the kind of old Honda I'd be looking at. Even at $1500 it doesn't seem like a stretch.

Okay, I piked the bike up today. It was so nice I rode it home. I put 220 mikes on it getting it home. The only thing that needs immediate attention is the leaky forks and the seat cover. The owner gave me a Pit Replica seat cover with it. It runs great, minor carb sync and tune. Also a good Nunzio bath and a quick detail is on the menu. Everything is there and unmolested. It even has the original owner papers, tools, kick start, owners manual.

Here it is now safe and sound from an unknown fate.

Not sure what you mean K1? It is a 1976 year.

Oke,I thought there was a K1 and later K2 type.I have owned a K1 type also 1976,fantastic bike,but watch out , I had in a long curve the wobble ,so the frame is maybe in extreme situations not stabel enough.Something you should no,that it can happens.Ask around if there are others owners with this experience.
But all in all great bike!!!!!

Beautiful bike. It won't take much to get it tip top. Remove & paint the mufflers annually. Nice lester? wheels too. I agree w/ lwr bars too. They really where a great piece at the time. 2nd fastest to the 900 kaw. Shocked

Very nice - congrats. Looks very similar to one I was looking at last year, but the owner wanted way more than $1500 for it. I didn't like the mufflers, so I passed.
