Hi Harris
All CB1100R’s had VB 53 carbs fitted. The RB had VB 53A while the RC/RD had VB 53C. I’m not sure what the difference is between VB 53A and VB 53C equally I don’t know what the other number denote.

One difference between the VB53A and the VB53C is that the Slow Jet (#42) is different. Size is the same, its just threaded differently on the VB53A (Rb) and obviously the carb casting is different. I've not seen any other differences whilst rebuilding sets of these.

As came stock with 110 main jets while the C comes with 115s. but that's little different. All the air jets are the same.
And as Max just noted, the A have a different pilot and they are definitely not interchangeable. No reason, however, that a C can't be used in an RB or vicey versy |

... and its a right bugger if you aren't concentrating and put the Rb one in the Rc ... ended up using a very small diameter internal thread extractor to fish it out ...
