I'm new here and going to ask tons of stupid questions so I better introduce myself. I live in Victoria, B.C., on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. I started riding when I was 16 (Honda 305 Super Hawk), moved to Island in 1975 and got away from bikes for a long time. About 10 years ago a friend passed away and that reminded me I better get on with things I've left behind. I had just finished a tart up of a 1971 CB750 I bought new and wanted to do restore and thus began the obssession. I asked the wife if she wanted to get back to riding and she answered "YES" bless her heart.
I/we now have 2 1971 CB750's, a 1970 Cb750 waiting for paint and pipes, a 1964 150 Benly waiting for love, a 2007 Goldwing for my wife and I to tour on and now a 1980 CB750F which was given to me.
The garage is getting full.
By the way I'm just over 60 years of age so probably much older than most of you here. So old in fact I had an original sandcast new but killed it in a bad crash with a Cortina.
I'm looking forward to this build depending on how my OCB works out. if I can help with any SOHC questions fire away.
Thanks,
Cliff.

Thanks guys! Jebbysan, that's a 1964 Honda Benly 150 cc twin C95, in sad shape. A fun little bike by all accounts. It's from the "You meet the nicest people on a Honda" era.
Cliff.

Welcome.
Those SOHC 750s are quite something! A mate I go riding with a lot has a 76 400/4 but it's not in anything like the condition those are in Smile

Hi Cliff, welcome. You're only as old as you feel, in your head and heart. I'm older than you so I'll call you kid.

The camera is very kind. There's quite a bit of rust on the frame after 30+ years. If I really like the bike then it's OCB time! I think I'll taking painting lessons. Cliff.

Hello Cliff. Welcome to here!

We met in that other thread, with messy the ignition issue.

I think you'll enjoy that bike, I like them too, but I only have the 3. Sounds like you have a good woman.

I spent quite some time on a friends 305 Super Hawk when I was in high school. By golly you are old, older n me. Laughing

I'll be 59 next time. And the time after that. Wink

Did a bunch more cleaning and a wax job, looks far better now but don't look too close. I have a new Mac 4 to 2 and some turn signals coming as well as a forum member is sending some pics of a pair of grab rails he has offered me. yahoo! Cliff.

Tried a bit of polishing last night but with limited tools, one pad and a couple of grades of compound. I came out ok for a first try. I usually have the pros do this but I wanted to see what I could do and right now this is a low budget affair. Cliff.

A bit more progress, Mac 4 to 2's on, grab bars and a bit more polishing. I'd like the mufflers to extend back a bit more but hanging them on the foot peg mounts doesn't give enough overlap from the headers to the muffler joint. Tried to get the oil pan off but the po has glued it on i think. My helper was getting bored. Cliff.

Magpie, your bike looks great.
Perhaps your helper could be used in the final polishing process.
Milk-Bone grade compound and you will good to go.

Worked on the left side today. I found a thread on polishing and followed the instructions and it worked nicely! Cliff.

I had one exactly like it.

The odd thing seems..........at the time (late '79) I bought the black one simply because all the ones I saw on the road were almost always the silver ones. Yet now it seems really hard to find the silver one in the first 2 years of production. You can find plenty of '81 and later silver though. I wonder if we just crashed them all up?

I would bet there's a lot of them in garages and basements, neglected like this one was. And then there's the repaints, as you say, after the crashes. Cliff.
