Picking up my first F this weekend (1983 CB1100F with about 18k and bone stock). My name's nick and I live just outside Milwaukee, WI. I'm 26 years old and have only been riding since last summer (2011).

My first bike was a 1982 VF750C Magna which I only had for a couple weeks before I wanted something bigger.
Image
I sold the Magna for about what I paid and got a hell of a deal on a 1980 CB900C with under 10k. It had been sitting in storage for a couple years and the carbs and tank needed work. Bought the bike for $400 and paid a local shop about $600 to get it running perfectly. Rode it around for a couple weeks and decided I wanted to move up again.
Image
I did a straight trade for a 1981 GL1100 that came fully dressed from the factory, but the previous owner had stripped it down (no fairing or bags). He gave me the fairing and bags and I ended up putting everything back on and rode it fully dressed for the rest of the year. Over the winter I decided to strip it back down and it currently runs as a "Naked Wing".
Image
My girlfriend was interested in riding, so I wanted to get her something to play around on and learn. We picked up a 1985 Suzuki RM250 but it ended up being too tall for her and we both had troubles with the kick start.
Image
We traded to RM250 and $600 cash for a customized 1984 CB650SC Nighthawk.
Image
Which brings me to my dream bike...the 1100F. I happened to find one on CL in Madison for a good price and almost had a mini-heart attack. The bike was being stored 6 hours away from me on the very tip of Wisconsin in Ashland. The owner went up there to visit family over Easter weekend and brought it back to Madison yesterday (Tuesday, April 10th). I'm going on vacation over the weekend, and plan on picking it up from Madison when I get back.
Image
Well, that's all I have for now. Just wanted to introduce myself and give a little history on my riding.

Welcome and Hello, the last one is the best Smile .There is very much information on this forum about the CB1100F.
There are guys that saying that the blue one is the faster one, that`s not true. Red is faster.

I appreciate all the welcomes!

I'm actually not a huge fan of the color red (but beggars can't be choosers). I'm contemplating contacting the guy we got the Nighthawk from and asking him to paint the 1100F Pearl White (with an almost beige tint) since I'm pretty sure he painted her bike.

Welcome.

Good choice not to let the girlfriend "learn" on the RM.

Hey Nick,
Welcome,
Looks like you've had some fun with bikes, you'll love the 1100!
I live just south of you a ways in Illinois.
Glad to hear there's a fellow Honda lover close by.
This cold snap sucks but it soon will be warmer.
Love those Wisconsin roads especially the Kettle Moraine.

Welcome to the site.
Stock body work in good shape is getting difficult to find...especially red side covers.
If you are going for a repaint you might consider getting a second set of bodywork painted instead and selling the stock stuff. You should end up with a good chunk of change to go towards the paint.

Did not realize that till you pointed it out, that is cool. I have never seen a 650 Nighthawk anything but stock, that really looks good! She will love it, I had one for 18 years and wish I never sold it.
