I found this on a local online shopping network. It is DOT and SNELL approved has upper and lower vents and was still in the box. It cost me $25 plus a 60 mile round trip to pick it up. Well worth it in my opinion. It feels a little tight but that could be because I've always worn an open-faced helmet. Will it loosen up over time or will it stay like it is?

It should loosen up a little. What is the manufacturing date? (Should be on the SNELL sticker inside the helmet.) |

i got a new full face on the way. should be here monday. i never wear a helmet but after riding my 750 i kinda feel like i need to wear one i ordered a AFX 90. i had one before when i got my first bike and i do remember it being a little snug at first and it loosened up. you want it kindof snug anyway, just not uncomfortable snug. |

It says March 2004 but except for a couple small scratches it looks like new. |

You probably already know the reason I asked. This may start another long discussion (I don't mean for it to), but most of the major helmet manufacturers recommend replacing helmets when they're 5 years old due to deterioration of the inner styrofoam liner (even if they haven't been worn). Yours is now six..... |

I looked that up after I found the date in it. SNELL has supposed to have tested 20 year old helmets that had not been used and they still conformed to the same standards they had when they came out new. From what I read, different manufacturers recommend anywhere from 3 to 6 years in replacing helmets that are in regular use, so who knows. |

I have owned HJC helmets for years. 3 years ago had a major accident, helmet damaged 360 degrees around but the brain matter survived. A lot of helmet for the money. |
