I had a good transaction with him this week. Very responsive and quite helpful. I gave him my business and hopefully it will go smoothly. I run a customer service center and understand how some transactions can get away from you. Sucks to be the one, sure. And when you're completely snowed under and you have one go upside down sometimes you choose to make 20 people happy before you finish dealing with the one guy that's pissed off and can't be made right.
Maybe he should put on more staff, and have a customer service contact, and a shipping dept, and charge $180... wait, you had the corporate option.
Not throwing stones, just putting in perspective. It does suck for you, Trublu, and I know your aggravation. You had a crap transaction. It's just ironic because I logged on tonight to put in a good word for Tim and saw this post.
So here it is anyway, chalk up one vote in favor. If I don't get for this weekend, then I should have paid 3 times as much or more for one off the shelf. |

I have purchased 4 rotors from Tim in the past as well as one from our friend in Hollywood. The West Coast rotor lasted 3 weeks. Tims are all still working. He even drop shipped one for me to Colorado for a friend who was broken down and had no way to but it at the time. All of the rotors I bought from Tim are still running and are from 2 to 5 years old. I will use him again when the need occurs. I plan on keeping a couple 1100's around indefinitely so I also have a spare of his on the shelf just in case. This allows me to wait for the quality if I have to. |

Thanks Guys,
As Ive stated previously. ALL I ever wanted was either A) my money back or B) a rebuilt rotor.
And, after his last correspondence with me back on 8/8/08 telling me that they couldnt find mine for sure, and that he was going to send one out tommorrow. I then get absolutely ZERO responses back to my numerous emails and phone calls. YES, I was pretty darn perturbed. I think most anyone would be honestly.
Truthfully i was truly just confused as to why Tim just simply didnt do what he said he would long ago and this would have all never even have happened.
Even a simple response to my emails or phone calls would have helped ease my concerns and probably avoided this.
BUT, when a guy ( who im dealing with for the very first time BTW, and dont really know what to expect) just all of a sudden refuses ANY and ALL contact for nearly 2 months...yeah..I (like most of you Im sure) get a tad worried.
Tim, truly im sure you are a good, decent man, AND, I KNOW you do good work (based on those who have actually gotten somehting back). I am too my freind. And, Thats why I went with you to begin with.
I do however feel that you are very overwhelmed right now IMO. If you get nothing else from me please accept this...keep the lines of communication open when there is a problem AND take care of problems as they arise and not push them aside.
I honestly felt that i would never see my $$, or my rotor ever again when i posted this thread.
THIS forum was a last resort for me to use after you wouldnt answer anything i used to try to contact you.
My point is.. (and as Brian says above).it all could have been easliy avoided if things were just handled in a timely manner (by both partys), promises were kept when made, and communications would have remained open.
I sincerely do wish you all the best in the future Tim.

I don't know about anybody else's business, but if I ignored a customer for 4 months after taking his money, it would be called lots of things, but good work would not be one of them, no matter how great my product was. |

Amen Gene, I sure do agree.
Thats what ticked me off more than anything..sending an item and money in good faith and then being ignored when i try and find out where MY item is.
Someone once told me that "In business your reputation is only reliant on how your last customer feels" and "word of mouth is your best (or your most damaging) form of advertising"
Truth is you wont ever hear much from those who were satisfied but those who werent...those can hurt you big time if ignored and mistreated, and THOSE are the ones you had better take care of.
Thoughts of Good work and great prices do indeed kinda fly out the window when you feel youve been ripped off.
A bad reputation in business is also a sure fire way to be out of business. |

Ive used tim for one rebuild and a repair from a faulty charging system. He really helped me out on the second repair by charging me very little for the repair and the quality was outstanding. I will admit he will not reply to you instantly however he does good work. I would use him again but before any transaction happens I would personally call him and get a clear understanding of his current work load and a clear position on when it will be completed and returned. At that point, its your decision. |

After recieving an email I feel I now need to add this... veiled threats of suing a disassatisfied customer for simply posting the truth , and exactly what happened are...
1) absolutely ludicris ( as there is no slander, libel , etc. involved. Simply.. the truth. I have EVERY single correspodence we had. I cant help it the truth is not to your liking.)
2) not a very good business move IMHO when attempting to reassure folks of your business practices. |

Post it up - I can forgive his bad business practices but if he's being a dick about it there are other places to get rotors rebuilt. |

Honestly...Im just trying to calm things down and let folsk decide what they will.
Makes me no difference though realy. Ill send it to you if you like. I just didnt wanna further enflame those who..those who...have had good dealings with Tim.
My entire point was to get my rotor back. Ended up getting the $$ back. So mission accomplished there as far as im concerned,
Then I saw this email and ..well... I didnt think too much of what he said is all or the way it was worded and I wanted to let Tim know that.
If people wanna see it let me know I just didnt think there really was enough interest in somthing that ...well I consider a veiled threat of being sued and i didnt appreciate the tone of it.I also did not wish to get into a shouting match over what he did or didnt mean by the email.
Those who deal with Tim and are happy and will remain happy regardless. Those who have had problems wont use him again. |

Sorry I've taken so long to get to your PM.
I wouldn't read too much into what Tim sent - I think he was just trying to convey his preferred method of doing business rather than making any specific 'threats'. |

I got it and replied back to you and agree with PTG.
The way he writes is a little difficult to get the intent but my take is he was stating his reason for not wanting to communicate thru forums. I just don't read it as a threat anymore then his own fear of getting sued by posting back and fourth . He reads like a simple older guy who prefers letters.
I don't think there is any malice. |

I did a keyword search for "rotor" and found this thread.
Does anyone know where I can get a rotor rebuilt? |

I have two rotors that need to be re-done and was going to send both to Tim but after reading this thread am very conserned about sending him any business. I have a brand new OEM rotor in the bike I think I will be searching around to locate another company that does windings.

Spike, wait until February/March before sending it. If you send it during his busy season, you will have time issues. |

Don't know if anyone still follows this thread but I just got my rewind back from Tim and it looks good. Gets installed this weekend. Here's hoping for no snow after that! (Sorry boarders and skiers) |

FWIW, Sent my stator beginning of Sept. Arrived back Oct 14. Just over 30 day turnaround. Great workmanship, getting 12.75v at idle. |

The voltage at idle is not what's important. The voltage at 3000 RPM should be 14.4V. |

Good point. My cheap meter shows 14.8 but it's high by .4, so right at 14.4v. |
