The linked article says Honda is 'considering capitalizing' on the retro movement and producing it while the article linked within that article reports it is going to be produced in 2009.
Has Honda confirmed one way or the other on this? |

Anyway they should really make this:
Maybe with a different headlight arraignment. |

I went to the bike show yesterday in Novi Mi. Neither of the protos were there. The Honda boy told me they were not there because Honda was not going to sell them. WRONG answer butt hole. If that were true the protos would not have been in any other place either. Honda did not let their little dealership have them for display. Pretty much a disapointing show. Lots of hardley trash in leather and scank. Wall to wall city people in a rude hurry. I did, however, enjoy the Ducati and MV Agusta displays. And the VMJC booth probably had the best bikes in the house including a perfect 73 900 kaw, an 82 cbx, a gt750, rz 350, and more. Thanks to Steve Searles, Dallas and Andy Nichols. |

That 4-into-1 is copied off the 400F. Nice looking, but the flat collector on the 400Fs rotted out all the time.
And what are they thinking with the chrome fenders.... |

That F is not for me Just does not fit my tastes. Don't we have enough fuggin cruisers?
Now the R is a different story and I'd buy one
Maybe we should take a modern bike (4 cylinder water cooled DOHC) and put some retro F bodywork and convert the rear swingarm to a double shock setup and then take it to Japan to stick it up their arse grrrrr!!!
So they downsized at CB750F into this:
They can surely retro the "look" of a modern bike with all it's performance into something really really cool.
I don't see why they would pass on these over that POS F for the U.S. market:
CB750
CB400 (SF and SB)
CB1300 (SF and SB)
WTF: Just bring it on already!!

I don't know why Honda doesn't import some of their good naked bikes to the US. They bring over an overweight, underpowered, overpriced bike, then say "They don't sell". No shit. |

Here's why I'm not buying one - it's ugly.
Beyond the gas tank, which has a nice shape, there was seemingly no effort made to style the bike. No effort made to hide any of the plumbing or mechanicals. It's an industrial look, some like it, I do not.
The new 1100F prototype, you can see effort was made to style the bike. The tank, seat, fenders (whether or not you like chrome), side covers, exhaust, it's all been sweated over to make it look good.
If the 919 looked like the 1100F, I'd buy one. A lot of the bikes in the pictures above, I'd say the same thing. They have been styled to look good rather than just function. |

Griz, now those bikes I LIKE!!!
I have never understood why the Japanese designers have to make fugly bikes for a few years before they get a clue on what the American rider wants... 1995 Kawi Vulcan comes to mind. Look @ the 2003 & up versions.... light years of difference...
Just dont get it...
But thats just me... |

+1 on that
Also I sat on one at the dealer and it's too small to fit my big fat azz on the damn thing.
That's why I would really like to see the CB1300 here. |

You must know me.
Really though, don't we have enough Crotch Rockets, Cruisers, V-Twins, V-4's and Touring Bikes in the main line up?
DOHC, inline 4 cylinder, water cooled, cartridge front shocks, fully adjustable twin rear shocks and not so much plastic that you cannot see the engine is what I am thinking right now. I am not talking the naked style either like the Monster, that has gone too far for me.

CB1300 2220mm (l), 790mm (w), 1120mm (h)
CB900F 2125mm (l), 750mm (w), 1085mm (h)
The CB1300 is only 3 3/4 inches longer, 1 1/2 inches wider and 1 1/4 inches taller than the 919.
The 919 was a huge success in other markets but not so much here in the US. Unfortunately fans of naked/retro bikes (like us) are a minority here and I can understand why Honda would focus their efforts on other models. They actually has a pretty diverse naked bike collection worldwide;

might be a nice bike..but it it sure dont look like our old "f" in any way...closer to a custom.. .just another bandit clone. In the end I love all our discussing what we like and why they dont make it..because just how many of us would actually buy one anyway? I think Honda has that figured also..
hahaaa.....I doubt i would buy one even if it looked just like my f...why? because I already have one.(well 4 actually).. why would I spend 10 grand for the same thing??..my current model has taken me all over the country just fine...
I love my old f's but my new bikes are gonna be , sprints, futura's, or vfrs, even the new in canada cbf1000 and the like, long distance bikes, not a rehash of my old f...
But hey..if they sell em here, and maybe when they are 5 yrs old and cheaper, I wouldnt mind one for a second bike!!
I say Honda..dump this one and keep trying.... |

Here's hoping they don't overprice it. I think it needs to be at or under the MSRP of the Suzuki Bandit 1250. Probably under. If it's the same, I'd buy the Honda, but that's me. They might be wise to bring it in under that.
If there is some "official" confirmation, I'm going to sell the FJ1100 this spring, and sell off all my assorted parts on Ebay to start raising my down payment. Probably will unfortunately have to sell the 750F as well, we'll see. I might be getting ahead of myself anyway. |

I'm just tired of waiting on Honda to sell anything in the US market that isn't a re-hash of the same bikes for the last 10 years...
I worked for Honda for 4 of those years and most of the "new" models could be summed up in 3 words....
BOLD NEW GRAPHICS
By the time Honda decides to put out a retro or adventure tour bike in the US, the market will be gone, their designs will be stale, and the bikes will surely be over priced...
I'm a Honda fan but they really need to move a little faster in the US market. Boring... |

BTW... before the 919 and 599 fans and owners jump me... They are rehashed CBR900 and CBR600F2 powerplants... The 599 power plant is right out of the mid nineties.... Fun, nice bikes but not even close to a newly developed product...
Repackaged and sold in Europe for years before it even got here... That's why they have a hard time selling them... They're old before they get here! |

I like the 599s I was about to buy a brand new one last year acctually but I decided to keep my bike even though the 599 would have been twice as fast, turn way better, and the brakes would make my 750 look like a Semi trying to stop on a dime. I would still like the 599, to me it looks better than the 919 too, but thats just me |
