8 and Counting. Well, because at the time I had purchased my F, it was the 8th bike in the garage and my loving wife of many years had exclaimed - for the 8th time - that I was not allowed to have another motorcycle without getting rid of one. That was 3 bikes ago. So now my name should be 11 and counting because she has told me that 11 times so far.
I am known as long_av8r on another site becuase I have another expensive hobby, flying - which I have done now since I was 16. |

Kaminari zoku directly translates from Japanese to Thunder Tribe and was a term that the media coined in the fifties for the original bike gangs in Japan. They would remove their mufflers (thunder) and speed around and cause general annoyance, riots and trouble.
I don't do any of this (but my Suzuki Samurai has no muffler) but I thinks it's a pretty cool sounding name and I would also like to start a racing team with some of my friends eventually called Kaminari Zoku.
Now days they call it Boso Zoku or just Boso. That term was started in the sixties. |

I've been genesound for decades. I had to decide on an email addy that would stick, then when forums came along i just used it. I started doing sound professionally in 1977, when the band broke up, and of course I've been into sound since junior high school in the '60s. |

Circuit Paul Ricard alias „Le Castellet“ in south of France was a racetrack with a long (1.2 mile) straight, all kinds of corners and a spectacular right-left-chicane. Official name of this chicane was „S de Bendor“. French people and racers who know the place referred to it only as pifpaf. Because you go in to the right way leaned over (pif) then flip over to the left (paf) as fast as you can.
Always liked that expression, looking for a nick was a good chance to use it for me.
Way back, I watched a couple of races there, including the 24 hours event Bol d´Or. 1981, an 900F-based factory Honda RS1000 won. The bike was so fast through the pifpaf, you wouldn´t believe.

I used to have a spandex batman shirt that I would wear "clubbing" back in the days when I could get away with that sort of thing(Read: Beer bellies and spandex don't mix)... I had to keep telling people that I was not the REAL batman.
Stuck eversince.... |

I had a 1970 Prostreet Nova with a 540ci BBC that I called PETRAT. The 426 chrysler HEMI's were nicknamed the elephant motor and we all know that elephants are afraid of rodents. A small block chevy is nicknamed a mouse, so I called my big block PETRAT. Decided to sell it to some guy in Oshawa (thats in Ontario) to go back to College. Dont regret going back to school, but really regret selling that car. Could drive it 100 miles to the nearest 1/4 mile track, drop the exhaust, put on slicks, and run 10.20's all day long with a street convertor. |

In the early '90's I bought a chevy Astro for a work van, cause it was an Astro LT, it quickly became the weekend party wagon. remove tools, insert seats & sub-woofer & whaalaa. It had built in six-pack coolers in the rear armrests complete with drains. At the time, White Zombie's album Astro-Creep was popluar in the party wagon, so I got a frt plate made w/ the album cover painted on it. when i got on the web I needed something simple to remember ( cause I lack any sort of creativity in this way ) I used AstroLT.
I had a Caddy Eldorado too, & I used Eldo1 for a while, but got tired of "where in the world is Eldo.." |

Whitecloud was a comic book caracter from the 60's that I always remembered (don't know why) but I have been using it as a forum name since I got involved with remote control model airplanes and helicopters (my other hobby when I'm not on the bike) seemed to fit that hobby well. |

I live in Sacramento and ride a Super Sport...so...how about SactoSport! Sounds good to me.
My other nickname "Russell the Love Muscle" didn't seem appropriate on this site!
I just saw rustickles post, we have the same nickname! My college buddies call me that because
I would always hook up with girls at the parties we went to! |

Never mind the fairest, who's the oldest around here?
I read about a 72 year-old who has just bought a new Suzuki M50 because his Gold Wing was getting to be a bit of a handfull.

Elkhart's been on my license plates since I first raced at Elkhart Lake (Road America) in the nineties in my old and much-lamented Lola Formula Ford. Couldn't believe the Wisconsin beauty of the place; forest, hills, loooooog straights ending in right handers. Best damn track in the world, even with the catch fences the lawyers recently forced on the place. Come on up and visit, preferably for the Superbike racing, and have a famous brat on a bun while the boys stand on the front brake and kick out the rear tire approaching Turn Five. You'll not forget it.

I'm the quiet type. My freshman year in college one of the guys on my dorm floor, one of the "cool kids", commented on how I was always just kind of sitting there without saying much. I was just soaking it all in. He called me, "the coolest cat on campus". It stuck and I've been known as Cool Cat ever since. |

Well, people have told me I am a pretty layed back guy, combined with the fact my 1980 CB750F is bright yellow. It really doesn't take a genius to figure it out.

I couldn`t think of a name to use. A guy at work said I looked like Lemmy, the singer for Motorhead . (I wasn`t flattered `cos Lemmy`s an ugly bastard).
Anyway... the guy would walk by me & sing "The Ace of Spades".
I got him back `cos he dyed his hair blonde, and I`d walk by singing "Will the real Slim Shady please stand up" .
I`ve since shaved the fumanchu, `cos it turned grey & white. Still have most of the hair tho` .
Also... I luv most anything with 2 wheels & a motor (select 4 wheelers too).
I spelled it Mowtrhed `cos I figured someonelse would have the right spelling. |

claret = blood? |

Well mine is a bit of a long story..
My first car was a Baby Green 80's Ford Escourt 1600 Sport.. The previous owners had name it "Green Monster".. After a Year a realised why, and renamed it "Gremlin".. Mostly because there always had to be One thing that would not work...
Ie.. Exhaust is busted ... Same day i repair exhaust, Alternator Breaks. Repair Alternator, Blow head gasket, Repair motor, and Rear silencer falls off.. (Leave for 1 year and no more problems) Repair Silencer, Alternator Falls off. Etc...
I got too the point where i Sprayed GREMLIN in Big Letters with Black and Post office red paint on the doors..
A year later I gave a mate a lift to his sisters place about 100k's away.. When we arrived, i was asked if thats my car on the curb... "Off course!!" .. She turned around and shouted down the hall to her Hubby. " Come Quickly, It's the Gremlin i was telling you about!!"...
Well the Name stuck since then (15 Years ago..), and when the Net eventully arrived in South Africa (~1993) I used the same nick .. but added the SA ...
I wont lie... The movie was also a big part in selecting the name.. My 13 year old dog is called "Gizmo", as when she looked up at you her long hairy ears folded back and she looked very much like "Gizmo" from the movie (Okay only not the Same colour).. |
