I just returned back today from being on vacation. This is a very sad thing to return to. Matt helped me many times. I liked the stories he told about trips he had taken over the years and of the experiences he had had. He came accross to me as someone who lived his dreams. If he thought it was something he might like doing, he did it. His stories inspired me and they left me with a desire to enjoy every moment of life.

RIP Matt.

I just popped in to have a quck browse on the sight to cheer me up and the first thing I see on the front page is a memorial to Matt@PSB. I couldn't grasp why it was there. Unbelief that the man had left us. Then I come inside and the first thing I see is a sticky for Matt. Just sheer unbelief. I never once met the guy, or spoke to the guy, but whenever I had a problem and needed advice, Matt would always help out with advice and explain in a way that my mechanical ineptitude could understand. A man who time for everyone. And now he's gone. Seems to unfair to believe but it's staring me in the face. May you find peace Matt. You will be sorely missed.

HOly Sh*T, I am sick to my stomach. Been working and haven't had time to log on to the site. I had just met Matt at the beginning of June when I took my bike up to him for some much needed TLC. For those of you that never met him he was a great guy, passionate about bikes, cbs and life in general.

I spoke with Matt a few days before his death, and now feel guilty for the voice mails and emails that are sitting in his inbox asking when my bike will be ready.

Rest in peace Matt.

Very sad news. Being a newbie here I didn't know or do business with Matt, but reading this thread it seems very clear that he lived life like it probably should be lived: living out his dreams while at the same time being very unselfish and considerate towards others. An expert that that kindly and patiently shares his/her knowledge with others is to me always the mark of a great person. RIP and my condolences to his loved ones.

Matt was a great MC mech. He hooked me up with some great carbs and good advice fo my 900F. As many have said, his advice continues to help all of us with our bikes. KUDOS to the people who keep his words alive on this web site.

For the last weeks since Matt's passing I've been trying to put a face to the name and the voice that I'd talked to on the phone over the last three years. The one picture posted to the site, and maybe only picture of Matt that I've seen, is shown as part of the current home page, Matt out there somewhere on the road with his VFR and his copilots GS750 making tracks to the Mexico wake. I know he posted images to Imageshack once in a while, but was not the most savvy of guys when it came to the operation of these boxes of smoke inter-net picture posting related. I'd thought for the longest time that the VFR/Mexico shot was a thumbnail only and maybe there was a larger version of it hanging out at Imageshack. This I guess is not the case, or at least other shots done by Matt are not accessable. But the following did turn up with some help. Nothing of the man but a couple of the machines he road. I can't say for sure if the SOHC 750F is in fact his, but most of us knew he had one and loved to ride it, at least until the deer stepped out and put an end to it. The last two show perhaps where he was, and where he was going with his 1100F bike rebuild. CR-S and FCR's pictured, perhaps for a sales demo shot of some sort , we will never know. There is also some frame gusset mods started on the FCR shot. Just thought someone might like these so here they are.

My last dealings with Matt was just days prior to my 1100F's pending tour south to the Dragon on June 10/ 06, ..it's re-birth after almost ten years of storage. He seemed to work magic in getting carbs to me in what felt like over-night speedy delivery fashion by June 05/06. Amazed and as always, very pleased was I.

that 750 is one of the matts bikes that was in pieces when we were at his shop friday. apart since his collision with the deer last year, it will unfortunately probably be parted out since nobody knows where all the various pieces are, spread out accrossed his shop. it was tough figuring out what all was what in all the boxes and pallets he had with customers parts and his own stuff. as for pictures of matt himself. the gentleman with the BMW was on the memorial ride yesterday with us, and he said he has some pictures of matt. i will post some when i get them, and hopefully, i will have more to pass on to Blizzard to put into a montage for matt.

Also. Not to sound like a leech, because I for one know I don't have the money, but what will happen with his F? Family? Friends?
Or is it up for sale?
I would imagine he has a good running bike, unless it got the common mechanic treatment. But I don't think he was the type to neglect his own bike.
And it has FCR's at least, worth the value of many of the F's by themselves on this forum.
I would expect it to bring in some good money for hiw wife to say the least.

the only bike matt had in one piece was his interceptor. for some reason, he had it up on a stand, like he was going to do some work to it. this makes me think that the day this all went down, he would have been on the VF750 instead of the yamaha, which might have made him think a bit more about his speed and conditions on his ride that night, which may have saved his life.
the 1100F is in so many pieces, that nobody knows what is what. we found what we think were the heads and exhaust, and we think that he had sent most of the top end out to be milled for the kit he was going to put in it. the body work for the most part was all on one pallet, missing only a set of side covers. the frame and wheels/suspension were in one piece, but the bottom end of the engine could not be located in the shop anywhere. his other 'rider', the CB900F he picked up to turn into a shop bike, was pretty much in the same condition. the engine for that sitting on a tire in the shop with the head off.

I want to start off by saying when I saw this thread I was in complete and total disbelieif not a Day has gone by since that I haven't thought about Matt repeatedly throughout the Day I miss Matts intelligent comments and the huge vocabulary he employed I wish I'd called him atleast once but I unfortunately never did and I haven't posted here til now for 2 primary reasons A. I've been extremely Busy with Taking care of Becki and life in general and mainly because I don't know what to say it's hard to lose somebody you talk to or hear from on a regular basis I don't know it just doesn't seem fair he wasn't sick he wasn't old theres no good reason for him not being here with us now as others have said Rest in Peace Matt we'll miss you

This is probably the hardest post any of us will have to write as we owe Matt so much for the help and advice he has provided over the years. I guess all of us have lost a fellow rider over the years to accidents and it never gets any easier to see our brothers make the last ride. Matt was the kind of guy everybody wanted to know. He was always that helping hand that was only a phone call away. The vintage sportbike community has definitley lost a great man and I wish all the best to his family, friends, customers and all the folks on this site, this has been a great loss.

I've been offline for months and logged on today on a whim. I feel absolutely gutted.

He was an asset to the forum and a great human being. I feel like his tech advise is a treasure that's been stolen.

I haven't been on in quite awhile either. Wow. I didn't know Matt other than questions he answered about valves and other part issues. He never seemed to get irritated with silly repettative questions. always helpful and courteous. Bent over backwards for myself and many others here and who knows where else. Guys like that are very few and far between these days. We world has lost another rare individual. sad sad news.

Matt@PSB, I'm sure your your getting this, since your now in cyber space. I never met you, never talked to you, or even emailed you. But I did read your posts on this forum. I could tell from your posts that you were knowlegable, thoughtful, and helpful. I could tell from your posts that you had the spirit of a motorcylist, that you would pull over to help any other biker on the side of the road, no matter what brand they were riding. I Just want you to know that it hurts me that your not here to inspire, educate, and help us with our earthly problems. But I also want you to know that you will not be forgotten, that you made a difference in my life, and in many others lives. You will be with us forever. And I want to thank you for being an inspiration to the lucky of us that were able to know you througth this forum. See you soon, I'll be riding my Pearlwhite CBX.

Guys,

Since this thread has been renewed, I might as well put in my two cents.

I talked to Matt only several times through PMs. I had a lot of respect for him and remember when he first came on board here. He never tried to make a sale through our forum for a long time, and then it just seemed to happen naturally in response to requests. Class guy.

I was almost physically sick when I first read the news a few weeks after his death. Yuck.

Hi Guys,

I was perusing the site and came across this thread with a recent posting and I coudn't help reading the last few pages. Matt was my mate for nearly 14 years and it makes me so proud to realize that you all valued him. I know you did before this. This site has been an amazing place for me since Matt's accident. The support and the stickers the guys created helped a horrible situation. Everything you say about him is true. He was a great guy and I miss him so much, so much so that I have hard time accepting anyone in his place. It's been three years and 23 days and although time has helped it doesn't change the bottom line. My life is less without him. And now that by CB750 has thrown her cam chain and I've been without a bike for nearly two months and no easy answers for someone who relied so much on her mate for vehicle care.... I'd gladly give up the bike to have him back. I just wish he was still with us, but to recognize the positive: he's left me with the support his wonderful family (all on the east coast) and quite a legacy of people who cared about him and that's a lot.

Thank you for remembering him. As long as he's remembered, he's still alive to us, yes? Plus, his postings will live on! It just isn't enough, though. But it is what it is. I'm so glad he was in my life, that he loved me, and that I have a hope of seeing his beautiful bull-headed sprirt again some day.

Sorry for the downer message. We had a friend just die recently on his bike and the memorial stirred up some emotions. Plus the anniversary of his death just passed. Everything reminds me of him again, but this will pass (and likely come back again but in a lesser form). Time does mostly help. I'll never regret that he was on the bike when he died. It's how he wanted to go. He loved to ride!

So God bless all the riders on this site. There's very little that replaces the joy of riding and we all got to say goodbye to this world sometime.

PS I have lots of photos of Matt. I don't know how to post them, but the pic you have of his bike, as Rob says, was his older bike. I've got him on the 1100F and other images. He was a handsome man. I love him for who he was - honest, smart, affectionate, funny, stubborn, always on the go, capable of fixing just about anything, his word was his bond and he did help lots of stranded visitors on the road. I knew he was a Keeper soon after I met him, so I'm keeping him in my heart for ever!

Matt was gone long before I joined the forum, so I never had the pleasure of getting to know him. But the outpouring of grief, condolences, and the ever-repeating words of praise makes me realize that I missed out. As I read through all the postings, I noticed that many of the members are no longer active here. I hope that they're still riding and enjoying their F's.

It was nice that someone remembered to think of Matt and mention his name again. As long as someone is around to say our name out loud, we live on.

I remember and I have one of his memorial patches attached to my tool box. I also went riding a couple of days ago with a head that he rebuilt for me.
