Go ahead, beat this. I saw a guy today riding in leathers, or at least a color coordinated riding suit, carrying his helmet strapped to his elbow. I've seen this before in RI where we have no helmet law.

Hey, at least he was wearing leathers. We have a helmet law in MI. It broke 80F this weekend, so there were plenty of bikes out, and what am I seeing? People 2 up on cruisers, wearing half helmets, shorts and tanktops. This wasn't puttering around town either, this was on I-275, a major arterial, at 70-80 MPH. I counted 6 bikes total in 5 minutes on the road, not one wearing anything other than a helmet and light street clothes.

I have a video which has a guy who crashed and wasn't wearing a helmet and wearing a t-shirt and no gloves. Can you say road rash! Shocked

I live in NM. No helmet laws and 75% of the people who ride don't wear one. The sport bike crowd is about 50/50 on helmet usage. The cruiser crowd is 90/10 agaist wearing them. Strangest sight? Saw a kid on a sport bike the other day (Yamaha R6 if I remember correctly). Had a nice Tecknic leather jacket, color matched to the bike of course. Also sans helmet, and wearing shorts... go figure. At least he wasn't wearing flip-flops...

Although I've told this story before, it's still the most ridiculous thing I've seen, and continue to see, on a bike.
I saw a guy on a Harley riding on the first sunny dry day of the year with no helmet. He had one of those bandanas on his head. He came to a stop at a traffic light and just fell over right in front of me. The paramedic told me he had hypothermia as they hauled him off in the ambulance. Well at least he looked cool riding without a helmet on a 35 degree day. Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "blue in the face".
Here in Ohio there is no helmet law and the cruiser crowd don't believe in using the words Harley and Helmet in the same sentence. Like was mentioned above, it's about 90% that don't wear helmets. It happens every winter when there's a nice sunny dry day, you see people out on cruisers with no helmets, no gloves, and no brains.

It doesnt get to hot here in Washington, but sometimes a nice 85 degree day can put a crimper on the comfortable ride scenario. Enter Joe Rockets mesh riding jacket. $129 on sale. On last years Lawman 1000 I wore this baby the entire time unitl we hit rain coming home over the pass from Eastern to Western Washington. It was well over 90 degrees in Eastern Washington, yet that jacket kept me cooler then an outright T-shirt. I hear they offer a sponge inner liner that can be soaked in water, effectively lowering the body core by 10 + degrees. It has all the protective padding, is light and COOL. Check it out., When it gets warm, Im grabbing that baby as opposed to my 40 pound leather jacket... Laughing

My dad is one of the few companies that tows bikes in his area. I'm always scouting for parts donors. Anyway, last weekend I stop by and here is this totally rashed but new GSXR-750. Had less than 1000 miles on it and a 30 day tag. Aparently he and his buddy were doing some wheelies past the donut shop and got somebody's attention. A chase ensues. One of the guys dumped his in some s-curves and the other guy dumped his somewhere else. The cop left rider 1 with his suzi to go help the other cop, and mr gixxer decides he is going to take off again. The clutch perch was messed up so needless to say he didn't get very far before he was arrested. Of course he didn't have a license. I'll be interested to find out what kind of equipment he was wearing if he comes back to get it. Damn, thats a fine swingarm Twisted Evil

connecticut has no helmet law so i only wear one in less than ideal weather. but it is dumb to carry it if you got it wear it. ive had the rash but i prefer to ride without it i like peripheral vision,goggle eye and the ability to hear better. RIDING A MOTORCYCLE WITH A HELMET IS LIKE SEX WITH A CONDOM, YES YOU ARE MUCH SAFER BUT ITS JUST NOT THE SAME!

On the old picture site, there is a pic with a guy on an F doing a wheelie with no helmet, jacket and I think he was wearing shorts. My son who was about 6 when he saw the pic said, well at least the gloves will protect his hands for the funeral.
