ok i am fixing to get some new tires for my k model, probably the s11's. i want to keep stock but problem is that i dont know what that is and the manual calls for a "3.50h19 (4pr)" up front and a ""4.50h17 (4pr)" in the back. anyone know what this is in todays sizes? |

Hmmm... ...either a typo there or somebody bought a John Deere motorcycle...
100/90-19 is what he meant to say...
I like the 80 series profile myself and I think it is actually closer to OEM spec...but not sure of that. |

The front is easy. A 3.25 X 19 works out real nice at 100/90H19 in the S11 Bridgestones.
The rear is much more complex, but only if you want it to be. TECHNICALLY a 4.50 X17 works out to be a 120/90X17 rear tire size. In modern tire sizes you do not want to talk about 120/90X17s. This is the tire size that the first year, 1978, XS1100 called for on the rear. The problem is this 120/90X17 is a real oddball size in today's tire world. Even more so if you demand high grade tires such as the S11s.
So, just shut-up & sit on your hands & except a 130/90H17 rear S11. It is 1/8th |

well i finally got my local shop to get me some s11's and install them. very nice. and i mean very nice tires! they seem kinda soft though, hope i can get more then 6k miles on them.
next question is a lame one, but would these rims have an innertube in them? its the stock spoked rims on the k model. reason i ask is that i told the shop to install new inner tubes (if it had any) as well and after i got the bike back it still had the same valve stems on it. so is it possible that this spoked rim doesnt need tubes or did i just get hosed?
sorry for the lame question but i have never had the tires off the rim and i dont know how it looks like in there and i cant find any picturers |

so the valve stem i am looking at on the rim is connected directly to the tube then im guessing? so if the valve stem looks the same as when i took it in then i guess they didnt change the tubes? |
