Hey all,
this isn't a who has the most toys post; I've owned all my bikes serially, one at a time. It's interesting to see a progression (or not!) reviewing someone's favorite rides.
List 'em in order of purchase if you care too.....
Editorialize about which was best if you dare....
My list:
--74 Yamaha RD350
--75 Yamaha 650
--78 Yamaha 850 triple
--81 Yamaha XV920 european style v twin
--75 Yamah RD350
--80 Honda CB650 Custom
--84 Honda V65 Sabre
--81 Kawasaki 550
--83 Suzuki GS1100L
Current ride: 81 Honda CB750F
Must admit there's a warm spot in my heart for the Sabre. Owned it for 10 years and 63 thousand miles.
But, my 750F is mighty sweet.......... Very Happy

PapaLuker, before the Whizzer, did you have one of those Flintstones bikes with the stone wheels? Very Happy Just kidding. You & Dennis each have an impressive list, & I'm sure we'll see more.
As for me, in addition to the 2 listed below, I had an '82 CM450C, & an old Honda 350 twin. So far it's all Honda.TB

Sheesh, Dennis, you could open a museum to rival Barber Motorsports in Birmingham, AL!
And, as for formative years, well,.....ahem,(old fart clearing throat) I wouldn't trade my birth year for anything ('53). It was a *great* time to be young, if you didn't get waxed in 'Nam.
And, yup, I love my 80's bikes!

I know it has nothing to do with the bikes, but I was born in '55 and it was a great time to be growing up, kinda like "Leave it to Beaver, twisted!" - they hadn't heard of Ralph Nader, truth in advertising, or other stuff like that yet. I remember playing football with some bread my mom made that, um, didn't turn out quite right, shooting my mom in the eye (she didn't lose it) with a bow & rubber 'suction' arrow, having 'toy' cigarettes that you could blow in and they'd give out a little puff of baby powder smoke, and going to my grandparents to watch color TV. So - kinda back on-topic - my dad had a '71 Yamaha 650 he'd let me borrow occasionally, and before that he had a '6? Harley (Aermacchi) 250 sprint, and before that a '64 (?) Honda 150 Dream. He used to borrow a friends CL-72 (250 Scrambler) and take us 'trail riding' when we were in the single digits for age. I ran that dang Honda 150 Dream harder than any sane person (read - over 16 years old) ever should and it just ran & ran & ran. The last I heard, the person my dad sold it to still had it, but it hadn't run in a couple of decades... 600 pounds of stamped steel motorcycle! My mom's favorite bike was my S3-A 400 Kaw triple - she'd borrow it from me and go riding around wth my dad. Oh yeah - the good 'ol days!

71 CB750K Sandcast, but motor was swapped out and some idiot changed the VIN # so it made the frame worthless (sold off parts)

Wow...

Okay where do I start?

Okay way back in 2005 just before Christmas (a month or so) I started paying off my first bike. My 1980 Honda CB750F.
Yep. That is all so far. But Dennis the menace, and Papa, are men after my own heart. I will some day own numerous bikes, a few planes, and a crap load of cars if I can help it. Very Happy Cool

The '82 CR125 I built from a basket case and the Honda 50 are missing. Oh yeah, and the 5hp Techumse-sp? mini-bike.

Once my son stops kicking my financial ass with his stupidity I'm going to add a blue 1100f.

By my count Dennis still has 20 bikes! Must either have one huge garage or a bunch of them. I'm 43 and have only owned 3 bikes. I'll have to start buying one a month to catch up! ha ha

Fster,
I've always wanted to own a turbocharged bike (I've had turbocharged cars, but not bikes). What was the 500 like? Was it much "larger" than it's displacement? Was the power band broad, or did it make all of it's power at the top end? Any engineering shortfalls? Was it fast, handle well? Why did you sell it?
Inquiring minds want to know....... Laughing

Unfortanetly I only owned the bike for a short 1400 miles. I was working for a Honda dealer at the time and when the Turbos were realeased I just had to have one. I told the owner I wanted the "ONE" we were going to get and he obliged. Rode it through the cold of early March and just as the season broke we had a valued customer come in that wanted it and was willing to pay the price, so being I didn't pay for it yet we sold it. But my short experience on it was great, a very ridable bike. I thought I might get another if the oppertunity arose but the the VF750 Sabres were released and I fell in love with them and bought one. Another great bike that I put 10,000 miles on the first year and 8,500 the second. Ah what I woudn,t do to be 22 again. Happy Holidays

Here is my short list;

'86 honda ZB50
'87 yamaha YSR50
'77 yamaha IT175
'7? yamaha IT125
'88 yamaha YSR50 (with IT175 motor)
'89 yamaha YSR50 (with IT125 motor)
'88 honda CR80
'82 honda CB750F

The 750 is the only one I still own. All the 50cc bikes I owned from the ages 14 to 16. The ZB50 I should have kept just cause it was so rare. I really miss the two hybrid YSR50's. Those things were scary fast for there size. Triple digits in something that came up to my waist. Shocked

wow. I'll take a shot..

Hondas:
c100 (stepthru 50 - first step down the road to degradation -- bought by my mother for me as cheap transport because it was 'cute'), c110(clutched motorcycle style 50), cb92 (wish I still had one, 125 twin - possibly the ugliest motorcycle ever made, I loved it), CR110 and CR93 racers, cb160, cb77, cl72, cb350, cb175, cb750, cb650sc, cb1100f. There's nothing in this list that I would not like to have again.

Others: Norton Nomad, Bultaco TSS125, BSA Bantam, Suzuki TS90, Velocette 500, Ducati Diana and probably others that I've forgotten... Some passed thru my hands very quickly.

Let me take a stab at this. In order of getting:

74 Yamaha GT 80
75 Yamaha DT125
78 Suzuki TS185
81 Honda CB400T
73 Suzuki GT550 *
72 Suzuki T500 *
68 Suzuki T500
73 Honda CT90 *
97 Suzuki DS650
82 Suzuki FZ50
77 Yamaha DT400 *
70 Yamaha DS6 250
83 Honda CB1100F *
72 Suzuki GT750 *
03 Kawasaki ZG1200 (Voyager)
72 Suzuki GT550 *
73 Yamaha RD350 *

* = still have.

This does not include bikes bought for parts or resale. I have to say although it wasn't the best, my favorite was my first. Still have dreams about riding it as a kid.

I wonder what Freud would say about that. Confused
