This is my 1982 CB900F Super Sport. My best
friend bought this as an '82 leftover… out of the crate in 1985. After
15 years of reliable enjoyment, he mistakenly believed that an upgrade to
Harley Davidson would make him a better man. He bought his new Harley in 2000
and after the initial $18,000 investment he needed to add $4,000 more in
adjustments to make it "tolerable". During this time I was able to buy the 900
off of him for a mere $1200.00. Before long, he could not accept the
massive payments on his new status symbol and decided to sell it. I, however
am still the proud owner of this mint 1982 CB900F super sport with 30,000
miles… without the engine case ever being broken open. It has had a few minor
adjustments like the carbs rejetted, K&N filters replacing the air box, a
Kerker 4 into 1, and all the disk rotors have been drilled so that the added
acceleration be equaled by smooth responsive braking. Other than these (and
the seat being customized), this machine is original and has been more
reliable than any vehicle I can remember. The original owner certainly never
"babied" it, as a matter of fact the front wheel probably has 2,000 less miles
on it than the rear does, and it regularly sees 10,500 RPM indicated on the
9,500 factory red line tachometer, without any objection or concern. In
summary I am convinced that this is one of the finest Japanese motorcycles
ever produced and I expect to have it 10 years from now, (probably with a 1002
kit)
and possibly with the original paint and decals as
it is now.
