Hello everyone here my name is Kyle and I'm from Northeast Pennsylvania I have gotten my first bike this summer which is a 1982 CB750F. I'm absolutely in love with the bike and am looking into upgrading and/or modernizing the bike over the winter while keeping the heart of the 82 750F still alive. I'm looking into more modern wheels and rims more specifically 5 spoke like the bike came with. I'm having trouble finding a good source to find rims that would be as "plug and play" as possible. I know I want and inch smaller rims and about the same width tire. My trouble I'm running into is know how well they will fit based just off the internets description. The bike has rear disc brakes so I'll need to have a set of wheels that will easily mount them back on. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated thank you much and happy riding all |

Hey Kyle,
Glad you found the site! There is a wealth of knowledge and expertise here to be drawn from.
The 90s CBR F2/F3 can almost be bolted on directly with a few wheel bearing changes ( mine are 94 F2 wheels with an aftermarket cb1100f swing arm and stock 900 forks); many people have done more fancy things such as single sided swing arms
Others will have upgraded recommendations and the limit is only your passion... And bankroll
Good luck!

I Highly Recommend Peter Smick's electronic upgrades. I ended up changing out all of the glass fuses with blade style fuses including the fuse box. Many other items available as well. I took advantage of many of the them and can attest to the quality and benefits. Have a look at Peter's Compendium of Gadgetry options:

Good luck and post some pictures of your bike for us to see.

Hi Kyle,
Welcome to the site. The euro 1985 VF1000F black boomerang wheels are somewhat period correct and are fairly easy to mount to a 750F. The front rim measures 18x250 and the rear is 17x3.50. I was able to find radials to fit and am running Continental Road Attacks 2's with a front 110/80 ZR18 and a 130/80 R17 on the rear. The bike wasn't imported to the US, so you'll need to source a set from Europe. I picked up mine on eBay Germany.

Would I have to swap the forks and swing arm like you did or would the rims and tires be essentially plug and play with the 750f forks and swing arm. Thank you! |

No, they will fit with stock forks and swing arm, but you may need to have custom spacers made.

It's a Corbin seat. |

I’ve used the VF1000F rims on an early model CBX a little different but the same, pretty straightforward. |

So I was doing some research and it looks like the 85 cbx used the same rims as the vf1100 might be easier for me to find in the US. I'm also trying to hunt the down in polished aluminum. If I can only get them in black I'll strip em downa nd polish myself. Making spacers would be cake for me too as I'm a CNC machinist by trade main focus on lathes so making bushings is second nature I'll have em at +/-.0002 💪🏻 |

Was the Corbin seat plug and play as well. I thinking about either shortening the distance between the seat and the little duck tail to make a bit more even with the rear tire. Or fabbing up my own seat mount out of fiberglass |

Cb1100F rims is a better option and easy to find in the states. |

F3 front end and wheels. Once you change anything it is no longer original and departing from original seems mortal destruction. |
