It's been an adventure so far and fun. I've learned a few things about my 1100F though! 1, don't try to break in a new Corbin seat all at once! 2, firm suspension settings on this are MUCH firmer than firm on my CB1000C. 3, this bike is awesome! 4, Probably the last cross county I do on this bike. And much more. More details under my reviving my 1100F post in the technical help forum. Going to put the carbs back on and see if the flat spot is cured. May need access to a syncronizer if anyone is near Klamath Falls, OR today, or Trinidad CA tomorrow, or Windsor CA Thursday. Will update if I can get carbs synced at the honda shop here in town. |

Hmmm, was just reading through the carb balancing thread and don't think that is the issue with my mid-range stumble. Idle and power is nice and smooth from start to red line. Will see if my last round of net cleaning took care of it. Us3d a pin on the smaller jets. Had to work it from both sides as it wouldn't go all the way through but the jets appear to be clear. I'll know for sure in a couple hours... |

Looks like getting the jets cleaned was the fix. Still some slight hesitations but barely noticeable. It probably does need a bit more but if it stays like this it'll be fine for the rest of the trip! |

Put a can of Sea Foam in the tank on next fill up , might help get rid of any residual varnish left in the jets . |

Just soak all the brass in straight Seafoam or brake cleaner for about 24 hours, then blast it all out with hi pressure air and brake cleaner. Be sure to do the emulsion tubes. |

Thanks guys. Got back from the ride on the 30th. We had a lot of fun and I ended with a total of about 3,400 miles on my bike. Never did quite get the carbs settled and had to use a little choke when running light throttle at lower altitudes and down hill. Gonna pull the carbs and take my time and really go over them, do all the maintenance items again, and use your suggestions above to see if I can get it settled. What an amazing trip that was. Between all the cool sights, experiences, and people we met, it was a lot of fun. I didn't see anything else like my bike the whole trip and a lot of people commented on how cool my "old bike" is. The chief mechanic from the Pirelli Racing team said it was the best example of the original stock bike that he has seen in a lot of years.
Sorry we didn't stop by Grump, would have been awesome to connect with ya but we were either just too busy or too tired.
That Highway 128 from the coast to the 101 was the most insanely fun road I've ever been on with a bike. We were 2-up on the wife's K1600GT (Was saving my bike for the trip back but wish I would have taken it too) and I finally had to pull over because I was exhausted! I've never had a road wear me out like that and felt just like I do when I've been flying and working hard!
I'm still getting caught up on chores around the house since we went to Omaha (drove the Mini) for the Holiday weekend but I'll get some pics up to prove I was actually there.
Looking forward to a little fall riding here in Colorado and should be able to get a few of those pics up soon too. Thanks for the help guys! |

Oooops.
More coffee needed i guess.
Regardless, 3400 mile trip on an F is impressive. |

Yep, it was fun and hurt a little too. Went for a ride with my wife and son and he slid out on a corner on it '06 GSXR. Never actually watched anyone go down and was more than a little scary being it was my son. He walked away ok, and the bike even survived. It will need almost all new plastic, rear frame piece, instrument cluster, shifter lever and handle bar.
As I was pulling the bike back in the garage and pulled the clutch to park it the cable snapped! Lol, it stalled right there without hurting anything else in the garage. I'm glad it waited till I got home! |

Yep, still runnin around here in CO. Was reading the replies to my CA to CO, and back, trip on the 1100. I sure do miss that bike! They that bought it was from Loveland I think. He said he was going to do some finishing work on it. Just wondering if he used this site. Would be cool to find out if it's still around.
BUT!, I'm finally going to do the build on my CB1100C and was hoping someone here could give me a lead on a good shop to get the cylinder and case bored, and that can do some minimal fabrication for me. Considering how rare this stuff is getting I'd really like to have someone that's familiar with our favorite bikes.
Any help with contacts would be hugely appreciated! |
