Hi folks, just joined and thought I better introduce myself.
Im a self confessed bike junky, collector, hoarder, restorer -- what ever you want to call it.
Ive been collecting for about 8 years now, and there are about 20 bikes in the shop.
The latest addition is an '82 CB900 Super Sport that hadn't seen the light off day for many years. Its mainly complete, but will need a full restoration. I'm not 100% sure when that resto will begin as I have a 84 CBX750 and a 1990 ZX7 to do first.
CB900F
The Good:
-Its largely Complete
-No Rust in the fuel tank
-It was Cheap
The Bad
- Seat cover is ripped (new one needed off ebay)
- Mirrors missing
- Brake lever seized
- Dont know if it runs (its not stuck, and it will click through the gears)
- New paint & decals needed and side covers need plastic welding
- Will need all the usual brakes, bearings , tires etc
The Ugly
- Yep she is ugly just now, definitely needs some love
The Basic Plan:
1) get it running so I know what im dealing with
2) if its viable and not a total write off from an engine perspective, Ill tear it down to the bare frame and restore it
here is a brief video of the CB900, there are some other vid's of my collection on my channel too if your interested.

Thanks , Glad to be here and looking forward to learning a lot about the CB900f |

Welcome Straycat, have fun with that 900F. Where in Ontario are you? There may be someone close by to lend a hand.

Hi Thanks for the welcome guys, Im in North Bay Ontario
ill see if I can figure out to post a pic or 2, but the link to the video is in my first post
things ill be interested to see and hear about if I decide to mod it in any way (im always torn between Mods and keeping it OEM):
1) better looking /feeling handlebars
2) more scalloped seat (may be)
3) Easy fit different wheels (& wider tires)
4) better looking front fender to match a nicer front tire profile |

Welcome to the wealth of knowledge on this forum. I've been an active member since the fall of 2007, when I bought my 'like new' CB1100F.
I checked out your YT link and left a comment.
When you get around to your CB900F project, start a thread and keep us involved.
Cheers!

Welcome to the fold.
There's a wealth of knowledge on tap in here. There's even a member who's a CB-F bike race engineer who gets 120+ bhp out of the bike, revving to 13,000 rpm. That's a heavily modded CB-F engine, obviously, and expensive. But you can buy many parts to improve the reliability of your own bike, without going to that extreme. All made by members and extensively tested by other members. Or if you have bottomless pockets, you can go to that extreme. Anything that is possible, someone in here will have done it and will have posted about it. |
