Hey all, I figured as a newbie here I better check in. If this is in the wrong spot, by all means, please move it.
I recently acquired a blue 1100F with 25K miles that has been sitting uncovered in a damp garage for quite a while. Most thing look okay. Most of the aluminum covers need stripped and re cleared. I ordered seal kits for all the calipers and master cylinders. The fluid looked like grandmas day old gravy. NASTY! All the cables seem to be free and working properly. I have a new sealed battery on order and should be in shortly. I wanted to have the breaks done before I attempt to start it but we'll see.
With this short list of things so far I have come up against a few NLA parts already. Pretty frustrating. I'm hoping it will make for a nice rider. I'm not looking to restore it, but, I will be asking some questions on parts availability here and there. Anyway, look forward to chatting and learning about my new ride with you folks.
I'll try to add some pictures once I find a host I like.
Jes

Welcome to the site, Jes.
As for parts availability there are lots of crossover compatibility with the 750/900F models.
I have been happy with Flickr.com as a hosting site.....so far. |

Welcome!
Parts also are not available from all suppliers that you may be used to. CMSNL and Davidsilverspares have most everything you will need. There are still a few items that are hard or impossible to find but everything needed to safely operate the bike should be available.
Lastly, several of us have a decent stockpile of parts. So ask around we may have what you need in good used order. |

Welcome to the group, Jes. This is the best site on the planet for technical advice, parts, and people with a common love of these DOHC bikes. I have no doubt you'll make lots of new friends here in short order.

Well, I never really did like photobucket so I'm going to give Flickr a shot.
Lets see if this works the same.
This was the day I picked it up. He still had the cash in hand. I don't think I got hurt for $1k.

Pics showed up but there are a bit over-sized.
Flickr gives multiple sizing options . I use either medium 800x600 or medium 640x480.
Amazing how many bikes turn up with squirrel/mouse debris around the airbox. |

Welcome to the group Jess, there is a treasure trove of knowledge here. My tip would be get yourself across how to use the Search functions, for example....yesterday I searched for...
Crankcase AND breather for find all the historical posts that contained both of those words.
Once you’ve mastered that you can get more advanced with queries such as
(crankcase AND breather) OR (oil AND vent) |
