I need to have less than 1/4 of gas in the tank before the vehicles go in the container to NZ. They are being transported to the shipping company on Monday.
What better excuse for a ride!
Need to run the carbs dry, then remove the bar ends. Shipping company is building a crate for the bike. Hopefully both vehicles make to to NZ unscathed.
Getting the bike and the T/A road legal in NZ is a process, but I'm looking forward to taking them both out on NZ roads (I just have to remember what side of the road to stay on). |

I was a beneficiary of a fine set of sportkit rearsets from Peter.
Safe travels! |

Beautiful bike
Hopefully your bike will arrive in NZ unscathed and you're able to enjoy the riding there
Take care 😀 |

Thankfully - no. NZ allows a limited number of LHD exceptions for unique/classic cars. They are VERY strict on the condition of imported vehicles and that's likely to be my biggest hurdle. I'm fully prepared for the TA to end up being a very expensive static garage ornament
I'm not expecting too many issues with importing the CB900F (fingers crossed). |

Happy journeys. Fingers crossed they don't end up in pirate hands on the way there
I wonder if they will find you any gravel roads in NZ! |

Born and raised in NZ so have family and friends there. Been in the US for 22 years - time for a change of pace. |

Well, well, finally might get a chance to meet you.
If you come South for the Burt Munro or just a look round, drop me a line and we can meet up.
I might also be able to point you at people who can help get the T/A certified. There's quite a bit of crossover from the bike world.
Hope you've got your quarantine spots booked. Enjoy.

We bought a house in Waihi that we are going to use as a base for a couple of months. Plan is then to do some travelling to determine where we ultimately want to retire to.
Car and bike made it safely to the shipping company in NJ. |

When you get your babies on that truck, it gets real! All the best on your journey and retirement in NZ.
You know we'll be looking forward to seeing your new riding area down there with lots of pics....please!
Cheers!

Really useful driving tip for you PtG to smooth the transition from driving on the right to the left.
Just be sure to always, ALWAYS keep the centreline of the road (both those actually marked and the imaginary ones) on your RIGHT shoulder.
Enjoy the land of my birth. IIRC Waihi is a pretty nice part of the world. And the classic car and bike scene is (still) just awesome too - just ask Captain!
Safe travels and enjoy the next chapter in your life.
Cheers...Tony |

For me it's always been keep the steering wheel closest to the centerline of the road. That works fine for when I'm driving in either country, but I can't use that mantra on a bike or in the TA. I like your idea of the right shoulder instead.
At least with the bike I don't have to worry about getting in the wrong side of the car - I've only done that a couple of times over the years, and I usually try to cover it by pretending I'm looking for something in the glovebox |

Roundabouts are easy as they are everywhere here in NZ (and the UK) and even the worst drivers / riders navigate them easily LOL
Most of the time.

Roundabouts are trickier when you're used to driving on the other side of the road. |
