My first `big bike' was a 1976 CB750F1 that I was riding in 79 thru 81. Very formative years in my biking development, I also met and courted my wife on that 750. I've been keeping an eye out for one the same (had to be yellow) for a while now to add to the stable and lucky for me Aaron found one on FB. So yesterday he and I took a day trip down to Columbus Ohio and brought her home. Other than the horrid muffler and ape hangers (UK bikes had what I think are known as 400 four bars) she is exactly the same bike I used to ride and the memories keep flooding back as I just sit and look at her. She needs some general love and tidying but the chrome and paint are original and really good. She actually came from South Africa and had the UK style bars which the seller changed out for US standard. So job one is to change them back. Oh and the indicators and rear light are wrong if I'm going full UK spec here.

Nice bike Nick.

Back in the day, (late 70’s?) as a kid , while driving in my car to school, I saw that exact bike (with passenger) outrunning the state police in a pursuit on Northern State parkway on Long Island.

Think of that every time I drive past that spot to this day

Very unique bike and color scheme that is easily recognizable.

“ What’s the “F” for ? FAST?””.

Good luck with it....

I had a '76 750F as well. Bought it used in the early 80s. Head gasket started leaking after a couple of years. Gave it to my mechanic to fix. He ended up calling me a week later to tell me that after pulling the head, he discovered it had an 836 kit in it! What a nice surprise! I loved that bike. Would like to find another as you did. I think they are pretty rare now days. Nice find. Enjoy!

Thanks guys. These do seem to have gotten more desirable in the last 6 months or so. I always thought them to be the red head step child of the 750 SOHC’s. The pre SS bikes being a lot more valuable. Getting one of these has been on my radar for a long time now and I saw odd ones go by at the wrong time for me or too far away. Glad I was able to finally grab one up while it’s affordable. I still paid more than it was worth IMHO, but it is exactly what I wanted, lots I need to do to get it right and looking better, but it’s all there and the chrome and paint are good.
